Wrong Visa Stamp

Hi I applied my PSW 2008 July and i was granted tier1 (general) visa for 2 years instead PSW. ( some body has done mistake in some where). now i have only 5 months remaining. still i am thinking whether i should apply for tier1 general extension or new application for tier1 general? please any body ...
