@RAJ2007 I believe that when applying for Naturalisation you must inform UKBA of any possible impending prosecutions. If you are charged after you apply (but before you are naturalised) UKBA would still need to be informed. As for the charge itself, generally a 'court given fine' will exclude an app...

also,

The grandchildren of a UK citizen born in the UK are entitled to an ancestry visa - whereas the grandchildren of UK citizens born outside the UK do not have this right.

Of course, in many cases the grandchildren of UK citizens will be UK citizens anyway.

well 8 weeks past ..and still waiting ...thinking to give them a call ..and see !!!! any suggestion ??? Joelondon, I think that you need to accept that this is now out of your hands - waiting 8+ weeks might be annoying, however the UKBA receive around 150000 citizenship applications a year - proces...

I was stuck on that one too.

Your current employer (or your most recent one if unemployed) should be able to provide this info.

I just sent an email to HR. i think itt may also be written on your P60/45's

I wouldn't be surprised if they sent the supporting documents back before they made a decision (I used NCS, so I am not sure). The letter you missed might just be the acknowledgment letter. You can probably collect the mail from the depot using the card they left for you. btw....are you aware the fo...

Did they reject you? Or do you only think they may have rejected you. What reason to you have to think they have rejected your application?

maybe I missed another post, but it just sounds like you have applied - and now some documents are being returned.

That's pretty normal in itself.

I used the NCS in Cambridge, I was told that unofficially NCS is quicker.

I guess they balance the queues differently, case workers would expect to have less errors to deal with through NCS applications.

It took about 6 weeks from applying though NCS and receiving my approval letter.

The DVLA period of 4 years is irrelevant for Naturalisation purposes. It takes 5 years for most court issued fines to become "spent" for the good character requirement. Exceptions seem to be given in some cases where the fine was only court issued because the driver was on a foreign license (i.e it'...

Hi, For an ancestry visa through a grandparent, the grandparent must have been born in the UK. I don't know the details of how your grandfather became British, but when I naturalized as a UK citizen it did not automatically apply to my children. However, if you have documentation showing that your m...

The fact the conviction code was given by the DVLA does not mitigate the offense. If you have an unspent conviction your application is unlikely to be successful. If you are stateless or there are some other special circumstances they can apply discretion. They are pretty good at finding out if you ...

Hello, To register as the minor of a British Citizen I think you'd need to be under 18. You may be able to register as an adult if you were born to a mother who was a citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies at the time of your birth. You say your mother received full British citizenship last year...

Re: Traffic offence and Naturalisation

in the year 2005-august i was commited traffic offence and were convicted by the court [Speeding in the motorway -SP50] .... Be mindful that the 5 year period for a spent conviction begins from when the conviction is issued, not the date the offense takes place. If you were convicted in August 2005...

How did you get your British citizenship? Does it matter? I am on ILR now, and hopefully in couple of years I will have Brit PP and live in a different country... If i becme a father can I not get BC for my children? It can matter. If the OP was also a 'British Citizen by Descent' themselves - then...

I think as long as you are named on the child's birth certificate - he will be considered a British citizen by descent, and is entitled to a UK passport. I know that for such children born in New Zealand, you do not need to register anything - you can apply for their Passport straight away. Not sure...

One of my referees gave his occupation as 'Software Engineer', and that was fine. He had professional qualifications.

'IT professional' can be quite vague - I imagine you would have to describe a more specific role in IT.

Re: Should I write a letter to them explaining?

The stamp was issued on my passport in Decemeber 2009 despite the fact I've acquired residence status in July 2008. So as far as I understand, I could've applied for citizenship without a residence stamp in July 2009 - after the 12 months after automatic residence was acquired. I am confused about ...

Your child cannot become British at this stage, UK citizenship to children born outside the UK is only through parents who are 'Citizens other than by Descent' (i.e. born or naturalized as British). There are some exceptions to this, I think if the child would otherwise be stateless, or if the Paren...

I was in a similar situation when I naturalized. I renewed my EU passport while living in the UK, but the old one was destroyed as part of the renewal process. If you use the NCS, they will confirm if you have enough proof of the 'residential qualifying period' with your P60s etc. It does make it ha...
