Re: travel with only a dutch resident permit

I don't know the full status of Romania, I think they are a new EU member... here is the Schengen regulation (from Germany's perspective): http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/EN/EinreiseUndAufenthalt/Schengen_node.html It says here: Third-country nationals with a residence permit valid in one fully imple...

student visa in Germany

Hi I know you can get a student visa in any country if you were accepted for study at any university, but I wonder what about vocational trainings for trades such as Culinary schools, vocational schools, or other schools that trains you for a certain job or trade and provides a license/certificate f...

You are allowed to stay in any Schengen countries for up to three months (official rule) if you have a residence permit for any of its member states. So you will not encounter any problem. Also (I got this from the German embassy when I had my residence permit) you're allowed to transit/stay in any ...

Re: Schengen Zone reentry via state other than residency

I would like to know if anyone has ever encountered or heard of problems returning to the Schengen zone via a country other than where one's residency* is held? I'm hoping I'm right in expecting the EU territories would recognise & respect the permit on arrival however perhaps more concerned by air...

Is it possible to become a refugee to protect yourself from deportation? It looks like you would get persecuted in your home country.

I think dismissed basically means that later on (after time served) the defendant was either given an unfair trial, or more evidence gives reasonable doubt to the guilt of the defendant, then the judge must dismiss the case, which basically means that the original guilty verdict (and therefore any j...

Re: German residence act

I looked over it but it says nothing about being inadmissible due to criminal records. It only says that those who were convicted of narcotic offenses with a sentence of over 3 years (unsuspended), offenses involving civil disorder (or misconduct) of a sentence of over 2 years (again, unsuspended), ...

As far as I know. If it was dismissed, it's considered spent. Not in the United States though... people have been deported due to "spent" or "expunged" convictions! But everywhere else seems to treat a "spent" conviction as nonexistent. For example, in the UK you don't even have to declare a "spent...

Re: How is a dismissed court case going to effect a student

I am no lawyer but as far as I know, wouldn't a dismissed case be considered "spent"? I know Canada accepts that as having a conviction "spent". At least the good thing it seems (from the link) is that the spending of convictions are automatic... but it's something like 7 years for offenses that res...

German residence act

Where can I find actual texts for the German residence act? I tried to apply for a student visa to Germany, it got denied by the Embassy's discretion since I did not have a solid plan to study in Germany, also they did not understand why I didn't start studying German in Taiwan. Furthermore they inc...

Re: French Visa & Criminal Record Worries

I think that guide also applies to non EU citizens too... because the fact of public safety applies whether or not the person attempting to enter the country may constitute a threat to public safety. It seems EU has more reasonable laws though because I know some country like the US pretty much make...
