I agree the payment pages of SET(M) and FLR(M) are not very clear. I was helping a relative fill FLR(M) form recently and we had to work out what whose date of birth was to be given on the payment page ourselves. The form FLR(M) extenstion is exactly like the SET(M) - settlement form by the way. The...

There was one episode of UK Border Force where it showed a spousal visa being issued in Lagos to a Nigerian man who was an overstayer so going back to Nigeria may be the best way to proceed I saw that episode too. Going back to apply for entry clearance may be the best option. He is subject to the ...

I ask because a relative advised they got the biometric letter from Sheffield after a previous invalid application sent back from Sheffield as well. I thought Croydon dealt wi...

Can other forum members that have applied for British Citizenship recently and also claiming child benefit please comment? There is nothing on the AN form that asks if benefits are being claimed. I think if you have ILR, then you should be able to claim Child benefit. @ poster, Dont claim any other ...

@ poster, did you at any point use a solicitor? After the first refusal, that was the time to have engaged an immigration adviser regarding a reconsideration or you could have made a fresh application which would be "out of time" but at least you made an attempt to regularise your stay. A reconsider...

Re: Changes to partner visa conditions?

Each application (human rights or not) is decided on it's own merits. This is the UK not US and the rules for partners may be different over there. Over here, partners and spouses of settled residents and British citizens are entitled to work without restrictions for the period of thier leave. @ top...

Hi K333, You really need to seek proper legal advice on this one. I had a "gap" of about 30 days and the Home Office gave me a lot of grief due to the strict 10 year ILR rules. You have about 3 months gap so you need a brilliant solicitor that can request a reconsideration on your behalf and ask if ...

ILR now received

Just a quick update. I have now received my ILR last week tuesday after my lawyer successfully challenged the home office decision to refuse to grant me ILR due to the "gap" in a previous application. (pls read first post for case history). He asked for a reconsideration in August which he got no re...

Imani, sorry to hear about your case being refused, as I understand, you do have a gap, but it should be from 22/01/09 to 30/01/09, you should argue about it, ask for a review/reconsideration or make a complaint. I have also pm you, please check your message box. Thanks for your reply. Your above s...

I think you may have a bit of difficulty if you go the route of blaming the UKBA for the gap. From your post, the gap itself seems to be your fault. It was your responsibility to make sure that the application form you used the second time round was the correct one especially as they sent your appl...

LONG RESIDENCE APPLICATION REFUSED DUE TO "GAP"

Hi, I came to the UK on 02/05/2000 and have been here since. I was a student for 7 years (2yr A levels, 4 yrs Uni and 1 yr Masters). I then applied for IGS in person at Croydon on the 31/12/07 which was valid until 31/12/08. All previous applications had been done on time with no issues. I then appl...
