I initially applied on 4th Oct, money deducted on the 8th (Cheque) and didn't receive an akn letter until the 29th Oct. The letter was dated 12th Oct. Don't bother calling HO, I called several times and their answer was that it takes up to 4 weeks from the day they take the money for you to get your...

Hey there, I left the UK and applied from my home country. I thought it would take less time, but it actually took 8 weeks for me to finally get my visa. (Applied on 17th November and received my passport back on 11th January). I don't mean to cause any anxiety, as you have already left the UK and h...

It's less about the few extra hundred pounds and more about the fact that there were no avaiable apointments.

Well that's really what I meant. They don't check your visa when you are leaving the country now do they! Whenever I came back, I showed my current passport as my valid passport for travel and then they checked the expired one for my visa.

I got the letter and my documents back on 3rd November. I was actually going to check with the person who gets my mail now to see whether a cheque has come through or now. I will check with him and let you know. I don't have any specific telephone numbers to be honest, Just the one for general inqui...

Okay I know the difference between them now! In the email they specifically say that there is a limit on Tier 1 (General). This is ridiculous. They have been messing me around for months now... They've said in the email: do not contact us because that is only going to prolong the process. I don't kn...

I had my three year student visa in my old/expired passport. All I did whenever I left the country was to make sure I have both my passports with me and I never faced any trouble.

Hello, I had the same problem. My application was returned after 1 month of posting it, application being invalid on grounds of using the older version of the form (31st July). Unlike you my visa was already expired by then and I left England to go back to my home country and re-apply from here. The...

To be honest when I was reading the announcements, it was quite unclear and I was hoping that the Post Study Work visas would not be subject to this. But why else would they send me the email? This might be a stupid question but what is the difference between Tier 1 General and Tier 1 post study? I'...

Applying from abroad - monthly limit

I submitted my documents to the British Embassy in Tehran on 17th November. Since there is no ambassador in Tehran the documents are sent to Abu Dhabi for processing. I was meant to go to the embassy this Tuesday (14th Dec) to get my passport back but they sent me an email on the 9th to say that the...

According to my research and numerous talks with people, you can carry on working full-time while waiting for your PSW. But you cannot start a new job when you have already sent off your documents. You have to wait for your passport to arrive before you can start a new job.

Letter from bank instead of bank statement

I have a letter with all the requirements mentioned in the Guidelines for PSW. I know they would probably prefer the st...

Hello, After many many discussions I left the country last wed, and now I'm back home. I have an appointment at the embassy for tomorrow morning, hopefully they will tell me tomorrow how long this will take. The most annoying thing is that now I need 2800GDP instead of the 800GDP, and as I haven't g...

Bank Statement - Does this count?

Hello I need to re-apply for my PSW. The previous bank statement I sent, covers up to 11th September. Once the payment is cleared, the external partner sends the application pack to the designated UKBA office(s) and that is when the application is put in a queue to wait for a caseworker to be a...

The only thing I've got in the refusal letter is the name of the caseworker but no number or email. The letter is from Sheffield office not the Durham one that I sent the documents to. I don't know what to do. If I re-apply and they refuse it due to out of time application then I have seriously over...

Application Invalid - Please Advice

I received my documents back today, and my application has been invalid. The reason for this being that I printed off the application form end of August (sent it off 3rd Oct) and they brought out a new form from 6th September. Now my leave has expired (18th Oct) and I don't know if I can re-apply fr...
