Not getting much joy out of the Italian consulate at the moment, hence posting here, as we have always got good advice from the people on the site. There is information on the website, but it is not always clear. If there is anyone with personal experience of some of the things I asked, it would be ...

U.K. resident - Italian passport and registration questions

Hi, I am an Italian citizen and recently moved to U.K. I got the Italian passport in Argentina a few years ago while I was living there (I am Argentinian by birth). My passport currently has my maiden name and shows my status as ´single´. I have a few questions about what I need to do, as I want t...

Hi Christophe, You're right, we are talking about a one way ticket to U.K. The reason I mentioned showing the Italian passport at immigration in Argentina is because often Immigration want to know if you are going to be legal where you are going to. Otherwise showing the Argentinian passport should ...

Sorry, another related question - what nationality do we mention when buying the ticket? Italian or Argentinian? Assuming she presents her Italian passport at checkin (to show the checkin people that she can stay legally in U.K.), do we say her nationality is Italian? Or does it not matter?

Thanks Christophe, thanks for that. I agree with the sequence of passports you have mentioned, except that at passport control she might need to produce both passports (and possibly at checkin). But as long as both can be legally produced, and accepted, we should be fine here, I think.Right?

Hi everyone, thanks for your experiences and help. Argentina definitely allows dual nationality - a lot of Argentinians have Italian passports. So from what you are saying, this should not be a problem at all, as both passports are legal and valid documents giving her the right to stay in different ...

BTW, have you or anyone else ever tried this kind of thing? If I can avoid it, I don't won't to buy the return ticket, unless that is the only option available. If the Italian passport cannot be used as proof of ability to live legally in the U.K., then we will be forever buying return tickets for h...

Hi meats, thanks for your replies my friend. If she can produce her Italian passport to show she does not need a cisa or return ticket, then that solves the problem for all time. And as you said, going back to Argentina should not be a problem, as you said, as it will be a holiday and she would leav...

So you buy the more expensive return ticket which allows cancellation and you cancel the return leg once in the UK and get a refund. So is this the only way to solve the problem? Will she run into trouble if she uses the Italian passport to leave Argentina? If asked for a return ticket, can she pro...

Hi there, thanks for your answer. The problem leaving Argentina with an Argentinian passport is that Argentinans are not allowed to stay indefinitely in U.K and she might be asked to show a return ticket to Argentina at checkin in Argentina. But the fact is that she is a full fledged Italian citizen...

Return ticket needed for my wife?

Hi guys, I have a simple question, which sounds complicated at the same time! My wife is Argetinian, but has an Italian passport. Does she need a return ticket to leave Argentina? Will they create hassle at the checkin desk if she has a one way ticket? Should she use her Argentinan passport at check...

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Do you think it is better to put in the application for the spouse visa once she is in the country on the Italian passport, or is it better to come into the country with that visa itself? It would be better to make an in country application, as that means she can come in mo...

Argentine wife with Italian passport - visa required?

Hi guys, I have a question about my wife's visa requirements and thought it would be worthwhile asking it here. My wife is Argentinian, but she also has an Italian passport. Does she need a visa for joining me in the U.K.? Normally Italians should be exempt from Visa requirements, as far as I know, ...

Does anyone know the customs limit for value of goods imported into India for non Indians? I know for Indians it is something like Rs 25000, but can't seem to find any limits for foreigners? And any ideas whether this will be any different for PIO card holders or OCI holders?

I did, but that is the case when the second citizenship is not in the country the person is in and where he/she has lost the passport - that is how I read it anyway.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Why does immigration always have to be so bloody complicated!???!! Will the British consulate not issue me with a new passport, as I am in the country of my second ...

Hi guys,
I have asimple question which may be difficult to answer - if I apply and get the OIC stamp on my British passport, is there a risk of losing British citizenship? I got BC last December.

Additionally if I then go and settle in India is there a risk of losing BC?

I don't disagree with them asking people to make sure that the sig remains within the borders. What I find stupid is that they will reject the application even if touches the border! That's excessive to me. Everything needs to be done with a perspective in mind. So what if it touches the border ? If...

Thanks for the info John. I have already applied using the checking service. What strikes me is the pedantic and control freak nature of the passport service. What happens if the sig touches the border - big deal! It's almost like this power of dishing out passports have gone to someone's head! I do...
