Re: Move to Latvia advice

Update. Here is the answer I got from the Immigration Department: EU citizens do not have to satisfy any conditions in terms of financial resources except that the funds available are above 200 EUR per month. So, 2400 per year. Can you live on 200 EUR per month in Latvia? Yes, you can. Will it be co...

Re: Move to Latvia advice

Since you are Irish as well as British, Brexit won't change anything for you. Cesvaine? Lovely place, I still have photographs of the ruins and Teici Natural Reserve. About work opportunities, did you consider teaching English? >>>>I’m starting to think a move is much tougher than I had hoped though...

Re: Move to Latvia advice

Noted. Hmm... interesting. Then as long as UK is in EU his wife can use Surinder Singh route. Or they can use National immigration law. However if OP is not British and not EU citizen, he is going to need a visa. As far as I remember, it wasn't difficult.

Re: Move to Latvia advice

Weblink removed by moderator. The rest depends on how much you are willing to spend and what are you looking for. Latvia is a tiny country, a bit over 2 million population, and 800 000 of that 2 million live in Riga, the capital. Internet connection will be very good everywhere. If you are not after...

Re: Move to Latvia advice

I apologize for typos in my previous post. A few things to add. You certainly don't need a visa if you move before a no-deal (should it happen at all). After no-deal you (most probably) won't need one either. I'd suggest you hurry up. >>>>Do we need minimum requirements financially? Your wife and ch...

Re: Move to Latvia advice

Well, I did it as a family member (my ex is Latvian) and it was fairly straightforward. Since I was not a EU citizen back then I applied for resident permit as a family member of Latvian citizen (so, National immigration laws applied). You can do it via the EU route (that is if you are British). Of ...

Re: Line Manager as a Referee for BC Application?

It's a bit of a great area isn't it? How about store manager? it's not the same as company director/manager because a store is just a part of a company. On the top of this, none of the above require any specific degree. Am I right?

Passport application form

Hello! Just received the certificate (Permanent Residence, 6 years) and opened the form. I read the guide but still have some questions. 1. I understand I have to send my Ukrainian passport, is that right? 2. Marriage of parents, date and place. I am trying to get the information, but do I really ha...

PNC outstanding

Hello! Out of the blue received a call from a former landlord saying that the notice of intention to take control of goods has been served  (I moved out months ago and needless to say have never received any PNC). It was because of driving on the bus lane. I had received PNCs before for Dartf...

I looked through the guide one more time and could not find anything. Is there any rule I might not know of? Can I use the 4 months old references?

References expiration date

Hi! I got my references but it's been almost 4 months ago. Is it ok or there is some kind of expiration date, meaning, they should be more recent?

I understand, thank you. I went to a dentist the other day, and she has known me for over 3 years but the clinic is not NHS. What do you think?
I don' believe there is a requirement for the dentist to be NHS. You should be fine :D

It's good news! Thanks a lot, Ratapita!

Re: Struggling with referees... Have a few questions

Are you in employment? If so- you must know (to the extent required for nationality purposes) a personnel officer at your place of employment. Or former employment, if employed less than 3 years. Thank you JAJ. I have been employed for less than 3 years, and prior to that I was self-employed. I sti...

Not back home, no. :D I left home country over a quarter of century ago. I still have recommendation letters from my professors from Chicago. They sure remember me. :D Will they do?

Re: Struggling with referees... Have a few questions

Is your friend a registered Paralegal? Also if he works for the government, he is a civil servant (on the list) but must be a permanent employee. He is not registered paralegal, and he is not a permanent employee, just a contractor. I'd already checked the list I am finding it hard to believe that ...

Teachers also count as professionals—are any of your friends teachers? How about nurses, chemists, opticians, paralegals, social workers, approved driving instructors, funeral directors, or members of Her Majesty's Armed Forces? :( I have a friend, a graduated lawyer, also a translator. He works fo...

Re: Date of PR status acquisition

That mean thet do not really double check before confirming PR acquisition date  !!! Honestly by doing so they could jeopardize people Citizenship application. No, no! They got it right. :-) And I am quite sure they doublecheck and triplecheck the PR acquisition date. From the point of immig...

Re: Date of PR status acquisition

Mystery solved. Now I know why the HO chose that earlier date. On the application we listed earlier entrances, and during the first one my ex registered as self-employed, worked and payed taxes. Then we left and came back later. I totally ignored that first time because we didn't really plan to sett...

Struggling with referees... Have a few questions

This is probably the only thing I haven't taken into account. I didn't think that the word "professional" would mean what it does. After living in the UK for six years now I don't think I know any professional for three years, not personally... well... I guess it depends on the meaning of the word "...

Re: Non-EEA family member after Divorce

Kiwi, I think you've got to check very well the regulations because as you describe your case, my opinion is that you have retained right of residence according to the regulation 10 (6). Not a chance. Retaining right of residence is only possible after dissolution of marriage/partnership or spouse'...
