Are Tier 1 (General) Dependents allowed to work?

Guys...quick query - is the dependent of a primary tier 1 visa holder allowed to work in the UK? Also, is there a restriction that the dependent cannot work until the primary holder starts working?

Thanks!

Hey..so a quick update, veering on the side of caution, I contacted VFS & the UK HC Visa helpline, and got a positive confirmation from both. Will take along a printout while travelling.

Cheers!

Just got my visa today and noticed that though my wife got her visa (dependent) as well, her details have not been updated in the dependent details' section in my visa. It says: No. o...

Photos

Hassled as I already was due to some hiccups earlier in the day, I just wanted to get it done without further Q&A...so went ahead with their suggestion, if you will. As I noticed, nearly (if not) everyone was asked to get their photos taken again..

IMPORTANT - Photo submission

All, Submitted our application today (in Bangalore) and learnt that most photos taken outside would be rejected (as ours were, 2 sets done by GK Vale) as the required specifications have changed . Would strongly recommend that while you get a set of photos along, come in to the center 30-40 mins ahe...

Cash accepted

Hi!

Submitted our application today and paid the entire fees in cash at the VFS bank counter, within the VFS premises. They charged Rs 200 extra per person, but did it fairly quick (<5 minutes).

Cheers,
Kartik

Many thanks for the suggestion - this felt like a no-brainer, but the overwhelming desire to err on the side of caution made me a fence sitter...guess this is the period when all those 'what if they read it this way and not that' doubts sneak in..!

Cheers!

B. Com. - 2-3 yrs or 3-4 yrs

While entering the form, I realized that while my B.Com. was a '3' year course, reading the dates of exams, could lead to translation as less than 3 years. Advice sought if I should mention this as a '2 yrs but less than 3 yrs' course OR '3 yrs but less than 4 yrs'. Would appreciate an urgent respon...

Impact of December limit being reached?

Hi, New to this arena, so please bear with my basic queries. 1 - Does it mean that no fresh applications will be accepted until the first working day of 2011? 2 - Would it be prudent to wait to the end of December to pay the visa fees, in case it's hiked further in the interim? 3 - Seemingly hypothe...

Accessing the NARIC database

Hello!

Could someone please let me know how I can access the NARIC database? Also, would anyone be able to let me know if B.Com. from Bangalore University is a recognized degree (it shows up in the PBS calculator on the UKBA website)?

Many thanks, in advance!
