visitor visa

I don't think canada (or any other country) allows visitors to apply for residency from within, because it is unfair to everyone else. You would have to leave and go thru a canadian embassy. There are no more free rides or lunches any more.

I think you'll be treated like any other foreigner who's wife is Canadian. The timeline varies as you stated. She'll have to sponsor you, which means proving that your combined present or future incomes will be sufficient to support you. Basically, Canada wants assurances that you will not become a ...

If you can afford to study abroad, I would assume your financial backing should be more than adequate to convince the Embassy that you won't be begging on Canadian street corners as many Canadians are now doing. You've been granted a "vacation" after working for one month? I can see the re...

You've been working for 4 yrs. in the UK. Shouldn't you be eligible for UK citizenship soon. Once you get that, the world is your oyster. Why would you not do that first?
Furthermore, what's wrong with living in UK? If you ever need to visit India, Canada would be twice the distance.

I admit to my ignorance as to what a consultant really does to earn his keep other than promising you the moon and filling out forms, therefore I would be wary of any consultant, and deal with the Canadian Embassy first, who could tell you straight-away if your qualifications are in demand. Or least...

security deposit

Not advice but just food for thought: Decades ago in Canada, landlords were all up-in-arms when security deposits were outlawed to protect tenants against high move-in costs and unscrupulous landlords. Now the only costs involved are simply the first and last month's rent in advance, with annual int...

Dear Sohail: Although you don't mention it, should we assume that from the job offer you ALREADY possess the entry visa for you and your wife? If so, there should be no problem for the new child. However, if you only have the job offer and no visa, I'd say your trek may still be uphill. If your job ...

Suspiciuos Consulates

Now you have. But if you thought like a Consulate does, you would understand. Coming from a "3rd world country", their suspicion was (as is often the case) that, the intent may not have been to remain in Canada as a family unit, but to send the (Canadian) wife and child back home once the ...

Dear Mariam and anybody else reading the question:
We should have noted the original date of this entry..2005!!!
I'm sure John doesn't need advice any more.
But I wonder why a 2005 entry is at the top of the list, or on the list at all?

I believe it was the fall of 2007 extending into 2008. Since you seem quite knowledgeable on the subject, I'm wondering if it could have been "special circumstances", because the country of departure could have been considered (I'm guessing) from the 3rd world and the couple were made (cyn...

expensive london

Is New York so cheap ($50-$70/wk). or maybe you meant £ as in British pounds, cause you'll have to pay in pounds. $1.65 will buy you only £1.
Even in pounds, (50-70/wk.) would be a tough find..

flat frauds

Not impossible but I think it would be tough to secure a flatshare online without a deposit first. You and your prospective flat-mate will have to convince each other of your trusty-worthy-ness. And that's the problem whether online or even by phone. I've seen quite a few scammers online asking for ...
