How long after you turned 18 did you actually leave? Also how long ago is this? The way i understand it, minors do not accrue illegal presence until the day they turn 18. So apparantely the clock starts ticking when they turn 18. Whereas adults would be be banned as follows Overstay for less than 1...

Thanks everyone! Wedding next week! Oh my!! As for booking the appointment, I just went through the site and got something that worked well for us -- they didn't ask about the wedding date or anything. Unfortunately, my work situation got so bad that it was making me unwell and the doc has signed m...

USoverstayer but now living in the UK planning to visit US

My husband and I are planning a trip to the US in December to visit some family and friends I have living in the US. I am from outside of the EU and require a visa to visit the US. I currently switched from student status to further leave to remain as a spouse. The reason for our trip is so my frien...

Re: Guidance to apply for FLR (M)

Hi, I need a help if someone can clear my doubts. I am from India staying in London on a dependent visa since June 2010. Now that my husband is applying for ILR SET (O), I am supposed to apply for an extension of spouse visa on SET (M). But the current visa that I am holding will expire in November...

Hi whimzee, My partner and I are also getting married on the 23rd Sept, congrats! :) We are planning to apply in person also; our situation is similar to your except she's a student. I just wondered how you booked at appointment before your wedding took place? I didn't think of doing that... did yo...

Hey, congrats! Your case looks like it will be straightforward. My case was a little complicated to yours, but I was given FLR. FLR M is the right form for you. Once you are issued FLR, then it's a two years before you can apply for SET M, that's if you decide to live in the UK permanently. If it sa...

Are you applying for the FLR in person at the Glasgow office? If so, they will return all your documents on the day if they are able to reach a decision. If they feel that your case isn't straightforward, they may pass it on to another office and they will have to keep your documents. However, if th...

Delay in receiving Biometric Permit

I applied for an FLR M and have received all my documents back with a letter dated the 22nd of August. I have yet to receive my card and have called to report the issue. They said that the reason the card wasn't sent out was because it wasn't made yet. I called today once again and was told I would ...

I still haven't received it. I called at the 10 day mark and they said that the card hadn't been made yet. They took my details and said someone would call me in the next 5 working days. The deadline for that should be tomorrow. If I haven't received it by then, then I'll give them another call.

I'm not exactly where I have seen it, but I'm almost 100% sure that on the Border Agency website it says that your partner's status will remain the same until a decision is made on you application. I came to the UK as a student and didn't have a straight forward case. I was advised by a solicitor th...

Thanks Stevenage! My employer was asking evidence from the university stating I was still a student. Since I didn't switch over to the post graduate-work visa they would have gotten suspicious. I didn't consider switching to that category because I figured that I would have a spousal visa by then. I...

Applying for FLR M as a possible overstayer

I am about to apply for a FLR M however I don't know where I stand legally. I have sought out help from an advisor but she didn't really seem too confident in her advice. I guess it would be best to explain my situation from the beginning. I came here as under a student visa in 2007 planning to stud...
