Re: 'Rights' of child being born either in UK or South Afric

Did you read any of the other posts in this thread??? If the child is born in SA it will automatically be a British citizen by descent and will have exactly the same rights as a British child born in the UK. Thank you @CR001  @ohara: Apologies. I read many many threads and in readin...

'Rights' of child being born either in UK or South Africa

Hello all, Resurrecting an old thread. I am now the proud but very tired father of a cute baby boy (definitely inherited the good looks from his mom) ... I want to apply for his UK Citizenship while I am still living in South Africa. Am I correct in assuming that, that I would need to complete and s...

Re: 'Rights' of child being born either in UK or South Afric

Wow thanks guys .. that was enlightening and informative to regarding habitual residency, etc especially when we return permanently after my placement is up. If I understand correctly, for the short term it means that if my wife pushed (excuse the pun  ) to have the Baby in the UK, she woul...

Re: 'Rights' of child being born either in UK or South Afric

Thanks folks. So what I had found was basically correct. I don't know who has been giving her the FUD that the child will not be able to get any 'benefits' by lieu of not physically being born in the UK. Not that we have thankfully ever needed to make use or or hope to in the future (except NHS occa...

'Rights' of child being born either in UK or South Africa

My wife and I are both naturalized British Citizens with dual nationality of South Africa. We had lived in the UK for 10 year and recently I got a promotion/transfer with my Company and have been living in SA again for the 6 months. My wife is now pregnant and wishes for our child to be born in Engl...

That is interesting. In fact my professional reference put in his passport number but the 'british citizen' reference did not. Question on Return of Documents

I applied for Citizenship by sending all original docs with application to UKBA on 01-May-2013 Unfortunately (for me), an urgent and unexpected work trip has come up for me in June, so I need my passport back in case it takes longer than the average processing time of 4 weeks. Does anyone know what ...

The salary on the original work permit is not necessarily a bad thing. All that matters is that at the time of application, your current salary meets or exceeds the SOC requirement for your job/job title.

Your WP documentation is not needed. They can verify this on their own systems. So as long as you have the passport with the visa permit(s) in it, you should be fine.. I speak from experience. I was a WP holder that got my ILR two weeks ago. They did not ask for the paperwork even though I had it an...

I think they look at the letter from the employer and check to ensure you are being paid at the appropriate rate. I don't know if it is up to the employer to tell them that they increased your salary by over say 20% in one year. But considering we have to submit the P60's for last 5 years - I am sur...

I applied in person for my ILR yesterday and was successful. See my posts if you interested. Due to their IT problems from 20/12 .. I was also given the decision for them to post my passports (if the checks they were making turned out ok) or to come and collect. As they had already wasted most of my...

They are also planning to promote me and add senior to my existing title (i.e. Senior Technical Support Analyst) and most of my role and duties would stay same, it just that I will supervise two new members of staff. Can this create any problems? As far as I know, this would entail applying for a t...

ILR Success - Croydon - WP - Set (O) -21-Dec-2011

Well, it's done. I applied for my ILR in person at Croydon today and was successful. I applied as a current WP holder for me + my wife (as dependent). It is a simple case, as I have worked for the same company for all my time in the UK. I originally came as a Working Holiday Maker in 2005 and switch...

Excellent Forum, and my favourite website for the last few months. I am applying for ILR next week and have of course used this forum and the collective experience of all to prepare for my application. However, as prepared as I am, I still have doubts  The only thing I require clarification f...

You can only book appointments 42 days ahead of the current date. The system seems to be a bit stupid in that if the "to" date is greater than 42 days limit, the system will not return any results even for the period that is within the 42 day limit. For me, I used Excel to work out the actual date w...
