Hi all, Just wanted to give an update and some hope to those still waiting. I applied by NCS on 10 May and received a letter yesterday 15/8/14 from my local council congratulating me on my successful application and giving me a date for my citizenship ceremony. Not sure whether it would help or not, but if your Employer puts their HMRC Employer Reference number on the letter, then it may show that they are registered to pay Taxes & NI.

National Insurance number should be recorded on payslips, P60's or any correspondence from HMRC. Have look on them to see if you can get it or ask the HR dept for it.
Don't write that it is lost because you don't lose the number, you can lose the card it comes on but not the number.

Payslips & P60 are from the same source i.e. the employer, so you need to show an additional source which normally will be bank statements. If you were paid in cash some one else might advise how you show proof. It sounds as though they have given you an option to submit the additional information, ...

Renew the passport first if you have the time, otherwise you'll be carrying around 2 passports every time you leave the country. Also to get the visa stamp put in a new passport you have to pay, so best to get passport renewed before getting the extension.
