When can I apply for naturalisation

Hi there,

I arrived on 1 Jan 2009 in the UK. ILR was granted on the 30th Oct 2013. When is the earliest I can apply for naturalisation ?

Does it have to be 6 years in total, living in the UK ?

Thanks,
Anees

So, I have some news. I called the Croydon centre and was told the following: both the LIUK test and an additional certificate to demonstrate your proficiency in English is mandatory for ILR. If you do not have either of these, then your ILR will be refused. It does not matter if you previously ...

I have a direct interest in this as the changes impact me when I apply for ILR in late October 2013. My wife has written her LIUK test in June 2013, and the certificate still says that no additional language requirement is required to demonstrate a proficiency in English. I will be writing my LIUK ...

Thanks for the answer. So, this means that all dependants are still subjected to the 180 days for the 5 year period ?

Does the 180 day limit apply to family dependants as well ?

Hi ,

I'm here on a 5 year sponsored work permit from Nov 2008. Does the new 180 day limit apply to my wife and kids as well ?

Apologies if its a silly question.

Thanks,
Anees

I entered the UK on the 27th November 2008.

I have a permanent work contract. Both the old work permit and the residence permit are valid for 5 years

Old Sponsored work permit

Hi there,

I'm on the old sponsored work permit which will expire on the 30th November 2013.

I'm in the UK for about 2.5 years now.

Do I need to change to the new tier 2 system, or can I still apply for IRL after 5 years under my current sponsorship ?

Thanks...
