Housing benefit on ILR will it affect naturalisation

Dear members,

Could someone relate from experience or expertise whether claiming housing benefit on ILR negatively impact your naturlisation application?

Regards

Re: ILR after 18 years?

Thank you for the detailed explanation. PeckhamPelican's example and explanation of legitimate expectation is quite useful. Hopefully the long residence route is still in place when she becomes eligible in 2018. There are no transitional arrangements in her case due to the legitimate expectation sit...

Re: ILR after 18 years?

Do you mean an additional 10 years residence?

In 2008, when she entered the UK, the rules were that anyone in continuous residence for 10 years would be eligible to apply for ILR. Can't she apply in 2018 under those rules?

ILR after 18 years?

After a long wait, today my sister was granted her discretionary leave to remain for 3 years on ECHR Article 8 grounds (right to respect for private and family life). On her leave letter, it states the following: In order to qualify for settlement you must have completed a continuous period of at le...

Re: FLR(O) waiting 4+ years

Thanks for your comments! Her case was handled by a solicitor all through. However, after the last judgement was made (which was in her favour) she hasn't contacted the firm and the firm also no longer represents her. The file needs to be re-opneed with them for a fee. What is a pre-action protocol ...

FLR(O) waiting 4+ years

My sister has been waiting for over 4 years now for her FLR(O) case. She applied under medical grounds in 2012. In 2012, they refused and she appealed. In 2014, first-tier tribunal allowed our appeal. In 2014, they again refused and she again appealed. In 2015, her appeal was allowed by the first-ti...

Re: Child first passport, send parent foreign passport?

Thanks Vinny for pointing to Table A.

We sent our foreign passports with ILR biometric cards through the Post Office's check and send service. The marriage certificate was not necessary as he was born this year in 2015.

Child first passport, send parent foreign passport?

Dear all, I have been looking for an answer to this, but couldn't find it in the FAQs or past topics: Applying for child's first British passport. Child born after both parent's ILR. To provide documentation for the application, should I send both our foreign passports, along with ILR biometric card...

Re: Length of leave granted on DLR before 9 July 2012

vinny, thanks for the link. It was very useful to see how recent court cases have clarified the situation that many rely upon. I am still confused about one thing, as Singh v Secretary of State concludes that for decisions between 9 July 2012 to 6 Sep 2012, it's the old rules. What does 'decision' h...

Re: Letter to home office for an update, what address?

I have written to my MP. But if we were to write to home office, then what address or email should it be sent to?

My solicior has done it in the past, not sure whether email or it was by post, but they received a response from the Home office with an update.

Letter to home office for an update, what address?

Our solicitor is asking us to pay a lot of £££ so they could write a letter to the home office to get an update on my sister's FLR(O) application, which BTW is 3 years in process. As it's only a letter I thought we write it ourselves to see if we can get an update on the implementation of the appeal...

Length of leave granted on DLR before 9 July 2012

My sister has won two appeals and should now be granted DLR. She applied for DLR on 21 June 2012 and received a refusal on 11 July 2012. I wish to determine the length of leave to be granted, whether it's 2.5 or 3 years. Now based on this document, one can determine the length of leave: https://www....

Re: Successful PEO/PSC ILR applications

Had a really pleasant experience at the Home office in Croydon, not just because my Tier-2 5-years ILR was granted in less than two hours total, but I found the staff quite friendly, contrary to what I had experienced all these years with UKBA agency. It's either the Home office revamp or the hefty ...

Re: Need some Technical help for Tier -2 Extension

I too noticed this when I was applying for my Tier2 in-country extension. The online version did say April 2013 on top even though it was September 2014 when I had applied. Not to worry, as the online version seems to differ from their paper version. I was granted the extension.

Re: Child born in UK ILR needing to travel

Thanks. So just to confirm again, even though we would have moved to ILR, she will be able to return on her Tier-2 dependent visa and biometric card. As long as her tier-2 dependent is still valid and has not expired.

Planning to visit the lush green meadows of slovenia. Do Tier-2 UK work-permit holders require a visa to travel to Slovenia? It used to be visa-free for UK residents once upon a time I remember.

Re: New non-EU limits

If your company is willing to employ you after the end of your 4 yr 8 month, there is no reason for the home office to grant you an extension on your Tier-2 that will take you to 5 years for ILR. I am pretty sure you can apply 3 months prior to your Tier-2 expiry. You can't apply more than 3 months ...

Tier 2 extension limits

Dear all,

Is there a maximum on the number of Tier-2 extensions one can apply for, other than the 6 year limit. In the past, I have had a change of employer under Tier-2 and an extension and require another extension of 6-months to get to ILR.

Thanks.
