I see what you mean but i do intend on working and am actually currently looking for a job so... hopefully it will be fine if i even get the number before the deadline... but if i dont any chance i could persuade the student finance to accept my application later? or should i not bother

If you have a job offer, then they usually process it in 7-15 working days. If you do not, then it takes usually 30-45 days to get your NI number after your interview. You could mention during your NI interview that you need it earlier (for the purpose you mention in your post) and see if they can ...
