Baby born to a naturalised citizen outside the UK?

Hi forum, hope you are well.

I wanted to ask if a newborn baby to a naturalised British Citizen (father) living overseas will automatically be entitled to citizenship and can register for the passport? If so, what documents and paperwork are required.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: New photos required for older JCAP applications?

You should contact HMPO and if they need more recent photos, you must send them. Passport photos cannot be older than 6 months. Many thanks as always CR001, that's what I was thinking too. I had my ceremony yesterday - when should I contact them? Also, will my HO Reference Number be enough for them...

New photos required for older JCAP applications?

Hi all - with apologies if this has been asked before but I finally got my approval after 16 months waiting and recently had my citizenship ceremony. I note that at the back of the decision letter, one of the paragraphs says that the passport office requires photos to be recent (last few months). I ...

Re: moving temporary out of UK while waiting for Citizenship confirmation?

I think it should be ok - as long as you return within 2 years according to the ILR rules. Will wait for the experts to comment, but that is my understanding...

Re: Delay more than 6 months

Hi silverchloride . I have got same problem. I applied on 27th of April 2017 and they keep repeating same thing that they doing good character checks or they waiting for some enternal or external agency's to reply. I believe that they delay some cases deliberately. My mp contacted home office 4 tim...

Re: Delay more than 6 months

I applied in August 2017 and still waiting, coming up to a year now. I involved the MP who wrote to the HO twice: 1) First letter, asking for an update and why it was delayed. The HO sent the exact same generic letter that they had sent to me previously, just copy-paste. 2) Second letter, asking for...

Hi, Sorry to hear for this delay. Did you chase HO regarding this ? Its like 10 months now. What checks they are doing that it is taking that long. Thanks Yes several emails and phone calls. Every time I email them, they send me a generic letter stating 'part of the requirements is checks with nati...

Re: General Discussion During Naturalisation Application Process

Hi, I've applied in September last and it's almost been 9 months now. Since the initial 6 months were up, I've emailed them three times - each time a month apart. The first time (just after 6 months) they said my application has not been completed yet. Then the second email (last month) they said t...

Subject Access Request Template?

(with apologies if this has been asked before) Hi all, I am hoping to do a Subject Access Request and one of the questions is: Explain the type of information you need and why you need it. This will help us make sure we give you the right records. I was wondering if someone done a Subject Access Req...

Re: Naturalization Application delayed for an year

I was wondering if they use the same letters for people whose applications are delayed by more than 6 months? Or is it different for each applicant. Also, am I right in thinking that UKVi sometimes write with a new time scale if the application cant be decided within six months?

Re: We have been waiting 7 months for natualisation with no update

Sadly there's not much one can do. Mine's been in process since the last 9 months, wrote several emails/letters/phone calls and even involved the MP. Only ever received the same generic response (even to the MP) that they are undertaking good character checks, etc and that there's no time scale for ...

Re: Naturalisation - not physically present in UK 5 years before application

I might be wrong but I remember reading here somewhere that an applicant (who was not physically present in the UK 5 years on the day before applying) got a letter from UKVI asking them to resubmit the cover letter (signed and dated) so that their application could be considered, which would have be...

Re: Refused British Citizenship on spent minor offense

It might be useful if you post the exact wording of your initial refusal letter and also the refusal of your reconsideration as I don't think they can refuse "without any specific reasons given". We might not agree with their reasons but by law they have to write the reasons why they feel you don't ...

Re: Trapped in the UK?

Once your naturalisation application is approved, you will have to book an oath taking ceremony (usually within 90 days of the approval). You can travel around after applying and once you get your letter, you can book a ceremony that fits in with your schedule. Technically, the day after you attend ...

considering the Tier 2 dependency will cease once the ILR is granted to the main applicant? Tier 2 (PBS) dependency will not cease once the ILR is granted, only if the ILR is granted on basis of T2 5 year route. Husband can continue on the current PBS dependent visa, and extend in the same category...

Re: Replacement of damaged naturalisation certificate

If the certificate is readable could you not just tape it (and keep it laminated, etc) - that way it's still there if ever needed and you don't need to get it replaced? Or is it a bit like a passport (with barcodes, etc)?

Dear All, THank you for your insights. At he time of my application, I indeed trivialised the whole ‘tv licence’ conviction. It seemed to me as an unpaid bill! Little did I know. Still am in two minds about re consideration plea to the HO because I truly am of a good character. This, being the only...
