Can you apply for citizenship before ILR?

Hi, if a spouse of a British citizen has now been in the UK for 3 years, but waited nearly a year for the postal FLR(M) to be issued and therefore still has to wait a year before they can apply for ILR, can they apply for citizenship before they are eligible to apply for ILR? This is under the old r...

Self employed - add'l docs needed for Set(M)??

Hi, hope someone can help with a quick question.

If you're applying for Set(M) under the old rules, and the appllicant is self employed, are there any additional documents that would be needed because of this???

Thanks in advance.

Re: ILR postal applications (excluding SET(LR))

Hi all, a question about the set(m) application form - each time I print it, it cuts off the page number bit at the bottom - anyone had the same issue? I've tried changing the print settings but it doesn't make a difference - will that be a problem?

Print quality of application forms

I've printed the set(m) form out a number of times now, and the page number bit at the bottom is always cut off - I've reset parameters etc, but this doesn't get the page number in. Is that acceptable or could this be grounds for refusal at a PEO? On the printout, the text is dark although not jet b...

Re: Divorce/marriage docs needed for Set(m) app??

In our case we answered: 2.21 No (as we are married to each other) 2.22 Yes (as one of us was previously married) 2.23 states we therefore have to provide the divorce and marriage docs again, and does not state that we are exempt from doing so if we already provided this for the FLR(M) (unlike 11B w...

Divorce/marriage docs needed for Set(m) app??

Hi All, My query relates to Set(M): 2.23 - 'provide original copies of divorce' 11B - 'only provide marriage/previous divorce documents if last granted leave was as an unmarried partner' 11B appears to contradict 2.23. Since we provided the marriage and previous divorce documents for the FLR(M) 2 ye...

Re: ILR route confirmation

Could someone please help clarify my understanding of Set(M) form, section 11B: If my spouse originally came to the UK on a fiance visa, and we married in the UK before getting the FLR(M) in the UK, will we need to provide any evidence in section 11B (the marriage certificate and/or documents about ...

New appointment availability at Solihull peo

Has anyone been able to book newly released appointments at the Bham Solihull office recently? I've seen new ones released for all other offices, but never for the Solihull one. Do they release less appointments for this office, or are they literally snapped up within seconds? Secondly, are all offi...

Re: ILR route confirmation

Thanks Amber. Partner's English test was aced, and now just getting ready to do the LIUK  So, even though the spouse visa was applied for in May 2012 but not issued until Oct 2012, we are still on the 2-year ILR route? Is it as simple as knowing that if the spouse visa was issued for 2 years, ...

English Test at B1

Wondering if anyone can help clarify something for me and my OH - I've looked at the gov's website, but as usual their information is limited/confusing/incomplete (I'm sure they do this intentionally). Anyway, in prep for an ILR application, do you only need to pass a speaking and listening test to ...

Thanks guys, very much appreciated.

If I book tickets before we apply for the visa, can anyone help with timescales? I've read that visas are generally processed within 2 weeks - is that true? Can it take longer depending on the non-EU spouse's nationality?

Thanks for the confirmation.

I don't want to book flights until I'm sure we get the visa - do you think it will be enough to hand in the passports, marriage certificate and application form?

We expect to visit Europe a lot - any idea what the longest visa is they'd issue for a first application?
