From this thread, I see that the processing times are much quicker than 6 months - am I right ? I am completing one year on an ILR end-April, if I apply for naturalisation then, how long will the entire process take to get my British passport? I ask because I need to then apply for a US visa to sta...

Hello All, Is Approval letter different from invitation letter? Cheers Hello, Some people (myself included) received a single combined approval+invitation letter. Some councils also send a letter when they receive one's certificate and some councils don't. The council where my certificate was sent ...

Your naturalisation certificate is valid for life buddy. What led you to believe there is a time limit, or even a requirement to have a British Passport? Many British people by birth never travelled outside the UK and never had a passport. Not having a passport makes you on less British than anyone ...

Re: Passport Timing

Thanks BigSam. If I apply for my passport by post (not via check & send), I need to fill in a payment form. I am wondering how much I need to write including the special delivery? You are welcome buddy!! The amount you need to write is £75.50 (which is £72.50 for passport fees plus the £3.00 for se...

Re: Passport Timing

How much extra did you pay for special delivery for your return of documents? £3.00 which is a bargain if you compare it to Royal Mail Special Delivery. IPS will return your documents by TheDX and if you give them a call a few days after you apply, they will give you the reference number to track y...

Payment plans are fine. However , the statement below is inaccurate: credit history is irrelevant to determine a good citizen as long as there are no criminal court jurisdiction involved. Another quick question folks Is it true that if you ask for your supporting documents to be returned by secure mail that the IPS will keep hold of them until they send you your British passport? Otherwise, they will send them back by normal second class post before your interview? In other words, if...

Was "Secure mail" a Royal Mail Special Delivery? or were they returned by a courier? From what I can see, it app...

Re: british citizenship

Use the NCS and you should have a result in 4-6 weeks providing you are eligible. Hello Sakthi, Take the 4-6 weeks with a pinch of salt. Some lucky applicants had a decision in the space of 2 odd weeks while others (myself included) waited for months. Be prepared to wait 6+ months and if you get a ...
