Also I have seen members using nhs letters, hmrc letters etc, which category require these sort of documents?
Unless offcourse if passport is lost.

My wife has (non-eu) ILR and I have just recently had Naturalisation, I plan to apply for her naturalization in near future, wanted to know if her current and previous passports will be sufficient to prove the 5 years living, or do we need to provide other documents as well?

Yes. One referee has to be someone who has known the baby in a professional capacity for example, health visitor, minister of religion etc. HO is very lenient when it comes to referees in case of young children.
