The comments are not about racisim - its just that it appears to be a sham 'relationship' way it seems with the amount of information you have give. If it's genuine, give more information and you will get better replies.

They will ask you a lot of questions about things that only you can verify - so don't worry about it. They have your photoand if you answer all the questions truthfully then there is nothing to worry about.

I applied through Check and Send Bedford Post Office on 10/03/12 and had my interview on 10/04/12 and received my passport on 12/04/12. Finally all over - good luck to all who are still waiting!

In short she can apply using married name even if her current passport is in maiden name - as long as she has her marriage certificate that shows the change form maiden to married name. I did the same. Not sure about the birth certificates- think they will always show the names on them.

I found the book to be more than enough. I read it over several lunch times (30min each) at work then went through the practice tests at the back - the only chapter I had to read twice was the history one - other than that the book is all you need. Why pay more for something you already have????

Ceremony fee is included.
Unless you book a private ceremony then that fee will depend on the local council - it's about £100

I rang them about 2 and a half months in because I needed my reference number - I was advised my application was in final stages. It did take a while to get though.

Another cost to consider is travelling to Passport Interview offices I don't drive long distances and neareast office is fully booked so I have to now spend £40 taking a train to Leicester and back and taxi to location for my interview.

I rang them a few weeks short of 3 months and said I did not get acknowledgement letter and wanted ref number to keep a record of my application and they told me it was with a case worker - 2 days later my application was approved.

I booked my ceremony when I received my approval - the council never said anything about sending a letter and I never received one. They said to bring the approval letter and my passport and that was enough.

I was not given a reference tracking number on the date of application - I was told if I wanted it I had to ring NCS a few days later (allowing them to send it) and theyw ould give me my DX tracking number.
