JAJ, You're right. Thanks for the clarification. I noticed, however, that under "Overseas citizenship of India" it says: The Constitution of India does not permit dual citizenship or dual nationality, except for minors where the second nationality was involuntarily acquired. However, in practice, ev...

I would definitely not overstay even by a day, especially because you have a new WP visa and job which will come into effect. If you get caught overstaying you could mess up your return here and your new job.

Joseph's IDEA is misleading, it is illegal to apply for Indian Passport when you've made an application for BC. Indian Govt, won't take this lightly esp. in India. I understand that India does not allow dual nationality in the case of applying for British or another citizenship (i.e. naturalisation...

It would appear (I'm not knowledgeable about Indian law) that your daughter is also currently an Indian citizen because she was born in India with at least one Indian parent. As such, she will be subject to Indian law in terms of her departure from India. She will either have to get an Indian passpo...

The 28-day period only applies when the HO is aware of your leaving your employment and when they have sent you a letter formally notifying you of the 28-day period. If you leave the country and then apply for a new visa, you would not have overstayed in my opinion. But I don't think doing that woul...

John, I agree with you that being an EU citizen does not necessarily exempt one from being deported, however, how would this work in any practical way seeing as the travel documents of EU citizens are not subjected to anything more than a cursory glance upon entry to the UK? Since I naturalised and...

My experience was an 8-week wait after I returned the certificate to Liverpool in early December. I did not use my MP, I just sent it back special delivery with a cover letter and a copy of the first page of the application and the birth certificate. Since my wife did not have to travel, it wasn't a...

Dear Jamie Thank you for your enquiry. As of April 3rd 2006, a person needs to complete 5 years in the work permit category prior to applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain. The earliest you may submit an application is up to 28 days before the completion of your 5th year. Any short absences due to...

vin123 The British passport is different than the Indian and many other passports. It says specifically on Page 2 you have to get a new passport when the pages run out. The US passport is similar to the Indian passport. The embassy or passport office insert extra pages in the same manner with glue a...

mhunjn Of course, I was thinking of a scenario where you would only have available your foreign passport (if you still are allowed to have one) instead of a UK passport. If the barriers are not working that day, there will be problems, so it's probably risky. basis, You're right. The EU line does mo...

I have made 3 trips to Europe and 1 to the US and I have been slightly disappointed when reentering the UK. As luck would have it, the UK/EU line was longer than the foreign line every time! When I get a chance I will get a certificate of entitlement for my US passport, which will provide a little m...
