They have to give you a cos- they might give you the information in the form of a letter or a statement but they must have issued a cos otherwise your application fails. So the visa letter doesn't include a cos reference number? It seems odd that an employer on the list of sponsors wouldn't know ...

i was not given a cos. it was just a general visa reference, confirrming everything about me.

My situation got more weird. I received one more biometric invitation letter, though i had done my biometrics was done on 22nd Feb. Law firm which represents me have sent the letter back to UKBA, but i have asked them to pull my application back as i need to travel immediately and might not return ...
