Re: OCI for 2nd child - What docs to take?

Thanks for your reply. We applied with the docs you mentioned and was very straight forward. They didnt keep any originals in our case. Though another visit is essential for oci collection, with HCI, we could post our possports and they would return the stamped passports back :-( here is the reply f...

Re: OCI for 2nd child - What docs to take?

Did you eventually apply for your new baby's OCI ?

We are in the same situation and would like to know the procedure and docs required.

Could you share please ?

Re: RE-OCI collection

When sending passports for OCI stamping for a family, all passports and docs can be sent together with ONLY 1 prepaid special delivery envelope (SDE) for returning passports. Last week we sent 3 passports for stamping with 3 SDE and they were all returned in one SDE and the other two SDE were also r...

if three applications require stamping, is it okay to send all of them in one envelope and enclose one self addressed envelope to receive all three back ?
Of one envelope each per application ?

old thread - http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=144835 You are right - they use the word "reissue", so would be nice if someone who knows can confirm. But even if its £175 every 5 years, its not to bad I think. Yes, you can convert PIO to OCI at any point, but will have to wait for 5 ...

Is it true that birth certificate for all applicants is required ?

I am preparing a family application and have UK birth certificate only for our son.

Do we need birth certificate for myself and my partner ?

I'd think that passport surrender certificate should be enough!

Thanks for the useful responses above.
I am guessing the same is true for address in India, i.e. not need to update if address in India changes.

change of address while OCI application in progress

Hello,
I'll be applying for OCI sometime this week at HCI London.
The process could take upto 3 months.
In this time, what if we change our address in UK ?
1. Do they send any letters / notification ?
2. Will I have to inform them about this change ?

TIA.

What is better, OCi, PIO or 5 year visa ? Like with many things, the simple answer is it depends. I started a thread last month with the focus that PIO is better for minors. ban.s suggested that even with PIO, it is "recommended" to transfer the PIO to new passport. So if OCI for minors can be trans...

See "new passport" PIO vs OCI comparison here -

Not sure if fresh application (£175) has to be made or can be done via misc OCI services.

Happy Diwali to you too.
I think you get the option to put the details depending on the browser you use.
I used firefox and I got the option to fill in the details of where I will be staying. But like I said, that's optional info - so I didn't fill that even though I could.

No, you don't need any docs from your parents as far as I can tell. We applied last Friday and haven't provided any docs from our parents even though we stay with them. In the form (when you fill online), there is optional info you can fill about where you will be staying - you could add your parent...

Ok, so for "have you travelled to india in past", I said NO as we've travelled to india in the past on indian passport, not on visa. As for documentation for minor kids, yes parents passports required. I don't think consent letter is required, it is needed of the minor kid is travelling alone or wit...

pretty much similar experience as mentioned above. Submitted on 10th Oct. Surrender certificate at VFS on 14th Oct. Was not informed. Contacted VFS and was told twice that the application is with HCI. On contacting HCI, I was told that its with VFS since 14th and they informed VFS. Got email and tex...

Ok, contacted HCI on ss.ppt@hcilondon.in
Got a response that the certificates were dispatched to VFS on 14th.
Didn't mention which VFS, hoping to get further info from them.

As bm_in_uk mentioned, online tracking status shows that its with HCI for further consideration. And got the same email response as bm_in_uk ... so I guess calling VFS may not help as they would give a similar response. We have our India trip planned and plan to get indian visa. From their site - "U...

anyone surrendered indian passport recently

Hi, I submitted our applications for indian passport surrender at VFS London in person on 10th Oct 2013. Received sms update on 12th Oct that its under process at HCI London. No updates after that. Just slightly concerned - any one experienced this kind of delays recently ? Is there anything I can d...
