What if they flew to Las Vegas and got married there, is that an automatic disqualification? This is really weird.

If your case is straight-forward you can receive a same day approval for FLR(M) with an in person appointment. Your BRP will be delivered within 10 working days of the decision. I felt it was worth the extra money to retain my passport and get a same day decision. KJ, but what is the 8 months ...

Are both passports (husband & wife) taken away for 8 mon

And the process is 8 months or so judging by recent posts - so both spouses are not in possession of travel documents for 8 months is this true??

Is there a way to speed this initial process up, by hiring a lawyer or making in-person appointment?

- thanks

You can look at other threads for FLR(M) processing times by post. I think they are speeding up but it hasn't been uncommon to wait 8-10 months recently. And your Tier 2 terms are extended while you await a decision but that means you have to still work for your current sponsor only (can't change ...

28 days? It's like that zombie british rubbish :) Really not enough I don't think even if there is another employer willing to sponsor..

Is 28 days enough to switch to FLM(M) category in this event though? How long is the process to obtain clearance visa in spouse category?

Thanks all!

So it's a question of how far along you are into your Tier 2 already. KJ, if you weren't married then how soon would you have to leave the country or find a new job not to loose your T2?

Finally, about the income, is my income enough to cover both of us if she earns less than the 18.6K? )

Of course I agree it's better to remain in your immigration category and avoid unnecessary paperwork etc. but what if we decide she goes to go to a grad school in another part of UK or my employer lets me go.. I guess I am saying spouse visa seems less restrictive. I heard on Tier 2 you can't even ...

From Tier 2 => Spouse Visa + 18,600 question

1. When I marry my gf who is EEU British resident is it ok to continue to work on my Tier 2 visa or do I have to re-apply as a spouse? I would like to remain on my Tier 2 until it expires and then make decision to switch or not. 2. If 'yes' to question 1 does the time spent in the UK under Tier 2 ...

continuous residency requirement for ILR?

Hello I am not Tier - 2 and consider taking sabbatical leave with my fiance. May or may not remain with the same employer, that's not been agreed on yet. I understand if we leave for long enough I will have broken my continuous residence requirement for ILR. How long do we have to be away so not to ...

Hello I plan on marrying my fiance who is a EU citizen residing in London. I am currently working on Tier-2. How does it take to switch category to work and reside in the UK based on marriage? Thanks

I believe you are a Tier-1 (G) visa holder. In that case, it would be probably be quicker (but more expensive) to stay on that route and apply to ILR than to switch to the EEA route. Hi I am Tier 2, I just thought if I am getting married anyway might as well do this if this makes sense or continue ...

marry lithuanian path to UK citizenship ?

Hello I am legally working in the UK, thinking about marrying my girlfriend who's also living in the UK who is from Lithuania (EU). I don't intend on getting Lithuanian citizenship, but if we both live and work in the UK do I become a permanent resident of the United Kingdom after 5 years by virtue ...

Got it thank you! So no way to just send a copy of my passport to them? I need to travel in the next 75 days I can't just leave everything for 2+ months in another country :( As long as you send it before it expires, your leave gets automatically extended by Section 3c so you are not illegal, but ...

Silent: this makes a big difference indeed. Do you happen to know if during this time I am allowed to work (even though the visa will have expired by then)? It's a major bank so there will be no shortcuts there You would be legal while your application is in process. You should be able to convince ...

Silent: looks like I have a job offer conditional on Tier 1 visa (they won't do Tier 2). So 2+ months of not being able to work and not being able to travel, that's brutal. You might know this, since my visa expires soon, what legal status am I in while waiting for paperwork to go through? - thanks ...

Tier one expires while waiting for ext makes me illegal?

Hello, I understand I need to mail my passport in with tier 1 extension application request. My visa due to expire in a few days. Does this mean if it takes a month to get my passport back I will remain in no visa (illegal) state all the while waiting for my application being processed ???

Thanks for the document, I think it serves as a request for reconsideration but up to 2010 if I am not mistaken. Too much legal talk in these documents :)

Might work with joint, hard to say ..

thanks so much again Rax. Well mine was about 1250 on that day, that's the problem. u think hiring a good lawyer and requesting a consideration might help out or that plus added fee is a waste of money? This 800 pound requirement is really dumb, I spent that much on a hotel one weekend.
