I would only be considered by the council for help if the accommodation was unsuitable. So does this mean I should go ahead and rent for the three of us a one bedroom apartment? A one bed apartment may affect your partners visa application as someone else has mentioned. If you do rent a larger prop...

Wondering if anyone aware of their referee(s) contacted by UKBA asking for a reference? Particularly for the people who waited many months. Neither of my husbands refs were contacted. My work collegue was one of them and she did not hear anything. Today I booked my husbands private citizenship cere...

We got a new front door today and it arrived just as they finished fitting it so Oh what a lucky door that has been today lol. Husband applied via NCS 18th January. Good luck to all those still wai...

I also work in Housing (council) and have done for many years. Virtually all Housing Associations now have their properties allocated via the choice based lettings scheme, this means you have to apply via your local council and if you do not have ILR then you can not apply to go on the list. I know ...

The allocation policy is quite complicated. Just recently in the borough I am in, any new applicants who apply for housing on the basis of homelessness no longer go into the highest catagory and wont be allocated council housing. Instead they will be allocated another form of housing with a 10 year ...

Generally the council will only be able to accept you for housing. Until your wife and step-son get ILR and are able to access public funds then they can not be included in your application so you would be assessed as a single person and only able to bid or be allocated a 1 bedroom property. The fac...

Maybe my question is already discussed here, in that case please accept my apologies. I am wondering why people are so anxious about citizenship applications. This is not a life changing event after all. ILR is, but BC? It is a straightforward application, the rules are easy to understand, the only...

I obviously do not expect BC to be sorted in a day, however its disorganised and not a transparent system unlike FLRM and ILR. Sadly all government departments have been cut drastically and this adds to the time length I suppose. I think the fact that we have such a huge sham marraige problem in the...

Hiya When I called HO a while ago I was asked if the country I came from had national service, when I said it did the call centre advisor said that that can add some time onto processing. No idea why??? I'm from Iran, any other Jan or feb club members from a similar nationality or part of the world...

I think all the BC applicants go through CRB checks which is time consuming so i guess BC applications can not be dealt in one day.
I remember when I had my CRB for work, it took quite a while to come back so can understand this.

For council housing you would only be entitled to a studio or one bedroom property as your partner and child can not be included on the application as they have no recourse to public finds. Even though you have a child they normally are unable to allocate a 2 bedroom because the claim will be for yo...

I am not sure if nationality has anything to do with it. I have seen on another immigration forum some Americans wait over 7 months to get BC and same with some Europeans. One of the people I deal with at work was a Sudanese Asylum Seeker, he got his BC very quickly, so there does not seem to be a p...

I think they are on a strike today. Well that's just a cherry on the cake Yes they were supposed to be but not sure if strike actually went ahead. Normally we strike at the same time but we were not called out this time and it was not definate the others would be going ahead with it either includin...

I wonder what links us all together to cause a delay ? Is it where we come from? Type of application? My application was a spouse of BC. No convictions, no overstays whatsoever! My husband is the same criteria as you, however he has been waiting since middle of January. It appears its hit and miss ...

So if you think they are done in date order why some take 1 month and others take over? case in point look at the time line some one just had it processed in 1 month applying 1 month after my wife yet my wifes app has only just made it onto the main system after a chase email from the contact team ...

Both incorrect they can send Urgent emails to people to chase up if you request them to and give a good reason. i think the only way to understand the ful process chain would be a freedom of information request and see if they give the info out as we are all just guessing the process line. I have r...
