Ignoring Jambo's advice (at my own peril), when I returned from the US last week I joined the UK/EU queue and presented my US passport with my nationality certificate. No problem, no delay, and no stamp in the passport. Your mileage may vary with this approach, but my reasoning was this: 1. As a Bri...

If you're worried, I'd definitely ask your friend to check your mail. Perhaps I'm alone, but I wouldn't trust any mail redirection abroad to be perfect or timely. Ask yourself the simple question: would I trust the Royal Mail with something this important and the possible loss of my application fee?...

Reading the page you linked to, it certainly seems that you'll be OK on the basis of either of these 2 points: If you have not been free from time restrictions for 12 months, we will normally use our discretion to disregard this if: you have been free from immigration time restrictions for at least ...

The passport thread indicates roughly a 4-to-6-week turnaround for first-time adult applicants, but you're right that it will depend on the availability of appointments in the London area if you're not willing to go out of town for your interview. If you file your application on the day of your publ...

£100 at Hammersmith & Fulham council.

But if you want to go away for the holidays, an extra month might be very useful to help you get your passport in time to book travel. You can apply the day you get your certificate.

Naturalised, travelling on foreign passport?

Hi all... perhaps you can help with a bit of advice. Strictly speaking, I know that now that I'm naturalised my ILR is effectively void and I'm supposed to either apply for a UK Passport or a Right of Abode certificate in my foreign passport before I travel. But I definitely won't have time to do ei...

Thanks Jambo. I was concerned about the "notify us if there is any change in your circumstances" catch-all that I seem to remember from the application. If you're saying that wouldn't apply in this case, that's very useful.

My company is being flexible about keeping me on the books for my 3-month notice period, but I only want to stay on if it's a necessity for my citizenship as if my noti...
