Lets say hypothetically speaking person is self-employed in business that is yet to generate returns, that person does not claim any benefits etc. Sufficient funds to continue business dev etc. From what I have seen naturalisation ...

If the salary is in range you indicated in your HSMP form, then you should be fine - you can always look for another job after having this one providing you with vital proof of economical activity! So if you get job offer then take it!

Some of them operate in style that you don't even have to file your tax during the end of year !. (you know what I mean ?) Yeah and some of them are total cons - if you have to do tax return (more than 1 job, high band tax payer etc), then you have to have tax return submitted either on your own or ...

I don't think so - £15k pa is hardly inline with Highly Skilled part of HSMP.

I'd say checking the kind of jobs that suit your profile is the best, but putting less than £25k might not help at all (average salary is around £20k here).

Sadly not - you still need to get visas even if you want to travel within the EU. :(

Would have been nice if EU standartised ILR stamps and allowed visa-free travel within EU.

New one is valid, the old one is not, there could be other differences but in any case its best to use the new form.

did you see the new rules on HO site ? There is a sticky column on switching. Read it. Where does it say that WP holders won't be allowed to switch to HSMP? WP and HSMP are similar visas in the "permanent" track, unlike temporary visas such as tourist, or sector based scheme. Anyhow, I switched ...

You will have to declare all trips outside of UK for more than 3 months on your ILR form. You will have to have a good explanation for that, perhaps its a good idea to get a solicitor's opinion on what excuse is acceptable.

Higher income tax and NI contributions on immigrants would have been popular but cost of administering these would be too great to bear. Fees for permits/HSMP will definately go up big time, most likely for ILR as well. I doubt however that fees would be greater than £1,000. Come to think of it ...

The integration of the two Appeal Tiers into one is quite a shocker I am sure its a shocker to solicitors who are used to milking legal aid funds on pointless appeals.... Your argument is irrelevant. The government's motive should not follow the individual immigrants' motive. First off its AtW, not ATW or ATw. Secondly argument is perfectly relevant - immigrants are the ones who typically stand to gain most in terms of money, its only fair if they share part of it ...

And what do you think majority of immigrants are after? Freedom of speech? Or leading political opposition to their home Govt in exile?

Talking of English - I believe anyone with a degree from a recognised course taught in English will not have to take tests.

I think even the landing card info that you fill goes to the waste bin ? I guess, that's why HSMP is better than WP - gives broader options. I agree, but I am still curious whether being in work permit employment at the time of application for ILR is sufficient. I think it is since all that should matter is the fact that the person actually did work 4 years and even if ...

Paying less than stated on original work permit is illegal, paying more is fine. Checking old and new figures is trivial as they will presumably have to add extention form into you file, so in theory one can be caught easily. Note however that on work permit (at least they used to) they asked for ...

they are also looking for a letter from current employer, confirming that they intend to keep your employed. That's where you may have problems.
