Re: April 2014 - Naturalisation Application Timeline

Congrats. My experience was 11 months waiting, positive result at the end. Surprisingly it took just over 2 weeks to get a passport, from the day I submitted an application to the day when passport arrived. Passport interview was on Mon, passport arrived on Thurs.

Re: April 2014 - Naturalisation Application Timeline

I got same letter today. My solicitor wasn't quite sure what it means in a view of new scrutinity checks introduced Dec 2014. Her possible explanation was that they may be checking for convictions in home countries, but this is rather a guess.

Re: April 2014 - Naturalisation Application Timeline

sivakt, not sure what they meant in your case and wether its just a standard reply. I have been advised recently that my application will be allocated to a caseworker in 2-3 weeks and checks will take another 2-4 weeks. Applied at the end of April last year.

Re: April 2014 - Naturalisation Application Timeline

Anyway new rules should apply for new applications. I also don't see how it can explain current delays.

Re: April 2014 - Naturalisation Application Timeline

I am not one for speculating so I won't go into the details why it appears, looking at this forum, that EEA citizens haven't been naturalised as of lately. I did however submit a request for information under the FoI act that asks how many EEA applications were received in March, April and May and ...

Re: April 2014 - Naturalisation Application Timeline

I've been waiting for nearly 7 months so far. Contacted a solicitor today who advised me that they have a number of naturalisation applications 6 months + and it is believed to be due to HO backlog. So their 100% target and "we are still making checks" is complete bollocks. They are clearly behind w...

EEA2 ROR Home Office supporting letter

Hi everyone Could anyone with retained right of residence tell me what is written in their Home Office letter? I have received 5 years RC card based on retention of rights however the letter which came with it does not mention anything about retention. Instead, there is just a standard wording for a...

Hi everyone Please help to clarify an issue if you can. Do you HAVE to apply for retaining rights or this is just to confirm your rights after you get divorced (assuming you tick all boxes and your residency is still valid)? I have come across different interpretations but no reliable source so far...

in theory, if a person retained his right of residence, it's an automatic status with the UKBA only CONFIRMING it. Although it may take up to 6 months to get that confirmation, one should, upon divorce, ideally apply on form EEA2 to confirm their status of a retained resident. Once you know that th...

Funny enough i came across almost identical situation. I had a chat with a solicitor and an outcome was not very helpful. Firstly, he advised to wait until you can apply for a perm residency under EU law. You can still divorce and stay on your current residency. He said that applying for retained ri...
