If you wish to protest, I say you have a case, especially given the number of responses here. The thing is, many of you are Commonwealth nationals, thus, eligible to vote in British elections. If someone here put together an online petition against the new law, then I think you migh actually get som...

you can, but it would be more expensive, especially since you will both at renewal time shell out 335 pounds each for your extensions, wheras if you do it the dependent route one application fee at extension time covers the primary visa holder and all dependants.

For what it is worth, as an Australian with many friends on WHV, none of them have had problems returning to the UK soon after their visas end. Many wrap up their jobs here, hit either Europe or Ireland for a bit of backpacking, and then come back to the UK to both a)pack up their lives and b) fly o...

I don’t know about Americans, but Australians have always had a wanderlust that takes them to many different corners of the earth. This wanderlust has nothing to do with economics, though undoubtedly being able to earn a decent salary allows us to stay overseas as long as we feel the need. As an Aus...

If you do not require prior EC to enter the UK as a visitor, you may enter the UK before your HSMP EC starts.

I am Australian and I entered the UK 2 months before my HSMP visa started ticking.

I am an Aussie, and my mates are Aussies who have gotten the HSMP under 28 visa.

You definetly can include your super payments in your application. Get a letter written up by your employer stating your total salary package as evidence.

Good luck.

ILR - Who's visa is it based on.

I have just received FLR on my HSMP. My wife is on a spousal visa and has also received FLR too. My question is, when it comes time to apply for ILR, will the decision for both my wife and myself to get ILR be based on purely my record in the UK as the 'primary' HSMP holder? The reason I ask is, if ...

Given that the dollar is getting a bit stronger, you may want to wait a touch longer so that that the more favourable exchange rate gets you over the finish line.

then you will have no problem entering on a tourist visa issued upon arrival, even if you have the postdated HSMP already stuck in your passport.

won't be a problem (assuming that you don't require entry clearance in advance for tourism purposes). I have an Australian passport and had my HSMP EC post-dated to October 2004. I had no problem entering the UK as a tourist in June and July 2004. I was simply given 6 months leave to enter upon arri...

Just apply normally, I think you'll be fine especially if you have a long term contract. The worst they'll do is only give you a one year extension at this stage given your short time here. A good friend of mine arrived in January (10 months late), was looking for a job (but didn't find one at the t...

The home office is not considering renewal as my payment is non-taxed. Does anyone know what can be done in such a...
