I have applied for OCI an year back and yes you are right that better to check recent timelines and take a better decision.

If recent timelines suggest OCI is taking bit late then PIO might be better option since u have travel in august.

With regards to no of days PIO is slightly better than OCI but i think u have enough time to apply for OCI as well since OCI at max takes 1 month from the date of applying in person.

PIO only. Since parents are not british. If parents are british citizens then he is eligible for OCI.

bank statements need to be original.
visa photocopy
passport photocopy
address proof (original) like council tax
any utility bill (original)
letter of invitation
employer letter stating u r working soandso (original)

I dont think there is any issue in working in govt job here and getting OCI.

I applied for my MIL visitor visa very recently and i did not for for attestation.

Its not really required.

For safety suggest u apply both where as known both are mutually exclusive.

any parent can sign.

Once your wife gets her B passport then yes you all can apply for OCI at the same time.

For surrending indian passport there is no need to take appt.

wait till it reaches london i.e the status will change that your OCI is ready for collection in london.

You should see the status change within a week.

you can apply for long term visa or PIO and say that baby never held any indian passport.

Your baby cannot apply for OCI since parents are holding indian passport.
