I think you are missing my point: Immigrants pay more taxes - everyone pays same amount for each tax they pay - but some people (eg: immigrants) pay more taxes, Brits may pay 5-6 taxes, an immigrant with same earning levels may pay 7-8 taxes Hence the difference in taxation Ok .... got you.... more...

If you have your passport/s with all the in and out stamps which proves that you are in the country (lawfully) than that is sufficient to prove you lawful residence criteria.... you might have to produce a letter from employer only if you don't have this...

I've spent my credit cards, overdrafts and also got loan from bank but pay monthly instalments and never missed any payment (My dept to bank is about £12000) I'm not bankrupted and never had ccj or anything from court.
