Re: Brit Settling in EU

You will always have the right to live in Ireland due to pre-EU arrangements, and obtain Irish and therefore EU citizenship after five years. Trouble is the Irish economy is going to go up the shitter, I was here during the Celtic Tiger and the following crash and I can see it all being set up to h...

Re: Child born in UK or Abroad & likely affects on BC in fut

I had the same situation few years ago and in the end I decided to have our baby born here in the UK. Although at times I questioned my decision during the pregnancy because we had no family here to support us and it was just too hard to cope with everything but now I am content I made the right cho...

Urgent - AN form - Is Tax assessment needed for housewife???

Section 3 in AN form asks for employment and tax details. My friend is a housewife, she has never worked, she does have an NI number and receives child benefit but has never worked and thus has never paid the tax. For section 3 in AN form she can write "housewife" in profession and leave other field...

Re: Knowledge of Language

Is the home office specifically asking for English Language Assesment or are they just asking for a NARIC certificate.

I thought the current AN form says that if you have a NARIC certificate and a letter from the university for medium of instruction then this should suffice. Am I wrong?

Re: Knowledge of Language

You might be in for another surprise although I hope I am wrong. The ELA assesment compares the degree to C1 level which is higher than B1 so when I applied for it in a very similar situation to yours we got a rejection for ELA saying that there is no way to prove that the degree fulfils C1 level re...

Re: Nationality Query

As I mentioned earlier, your child is not British by birth because at the time of his birth none of the parents were had settles status in the UK. Because he was born in the UK he became entitled to regiser as British Citizen when the parents got settled status (ILR). You will have to use form MN1 t...

Re: Parents details while applying naturalisation

I am surprised she did not get it corrected. The correct thing to do would be to get the passport corrected and then supply the correct details to UKBA with the corrected passport. Parent's details in case of naturalization don't account for much, nevertheless if you do anything else you risk decept...

Re: What questions does UKBA ask to referees?

Even for the passport interview I dont think anyone is expected to know every minute detail about the referee. I guess it does depend on what you say about the referee on how you know him. If you say that he is a friend then do expect a follow up question because they want to make a judgement whethe...

Re: What questions does UKBA ask to referees?

Most of the time they dont contact the referee at all. Even if they did they will not ask anything more than what is on the reference page of your application. As long as your referee knows you and is aware that he has signed your application :-) you are fine.

Re: COUNCIL TAX

As long as you dont have any unsettled amounts outstanding in your own name you should be fine. By unsettled I mean that suppose you owe concil some money but unable to pay it in full but you have made some arrangements with the council to pay it in future and council has agreed then you will be fine.

I don't know about your wife's FLR(M).

As far as your son is concerned he is eligible and should be ok. Dependents absence should not make any difference.

Re: Query/Concern on MN1 Application submitted

I think it should be ok. They normally don't make a lot of fuss about young children. Worst case scenario they will ask you to provide another reference but I don't think they will reject the application or anything so relax and try not to worry :) It's interesting you did not notice it before hand ...

Thanks this information helps a lot & this is what I am looking for. If you don't mind can you explain what do you mean by a) (Shahid)'Put all dates as your ceremony date' ... To be fair people apply with these tight deadlines all the time and all goes well ......... but every now and then you do see somebody get rejected and lost their fees beause one small thing did not happen in time. Re: plan of sorts, please comment on dates

Hello. I was hoping someone could help with the timing of my decision to apply for naturalisation. I applied for an ILR on 29th July 2013(I have no written proof for this except appointment confirmation) and got it stamped on 5th August 2013. Question: WHEN DO 12 MONTHS COMPLETE? Is it on 4th augus...

Re: Actions needed for next steps after citizenship approval

The quickest options for you would be: 1. Arrange a private ceremony with the same council you get the invite for. You can have the ceremony the very next day and will cost around £80. For a public ceremony you will probably have to wait for a couple of weeks unless you are very very lucky. 2. Pick ...

As Vinny mentioned above you cannot apply for their passports directly because they are not british by birth. You need to register both of your daughters using MN1 form under section 1(3) to get their BC certificates and then use the certificates to apply for passports. ...... it was my understandin...
