Re: Returning to Ireland

There is a charity called 'safe home ireland'. Google them and send them an e-mail. Explain your position in the e-mail and that you need help to get home. They were set up by Martin McAleese and if you come home with their help you should have no problems with habitual residence, as the purpose of ...

Inform them in writing about two to four weeks before baby is born. State that she is due to have a baby soon (don't specify the expected date) and that she is continuing to look for work and will continue to look for work after the baby is born. Then when baby is born give them a copy of birth cert...

Plese vote strategically in elections, EU and non-EU

If you are not registered to vote, please register and please vote. I think you need to be in Ireland one year to register, but you can check this yourself. EU can vote in local and European elections. You need to take ID such as passport to the voting station. Non-EU and EU can vote in local electi...

Re: NON-EEA Dependant Parent of British Citizen working in I

1. Main pitfall, if parents are in non-EU country and you are in Ireland, you will be told they are financially dependent only, and you can continue to send money. Visa refused, you can appeal. Solution: Get three month visitor visa for parents to visit you in UK. They live with you in UK for two mo...

Re: baby birth and social

Hi Zaza, It is simple. Your wife can (and should) continue to get jobseekers allowance. She is not required to be available for or look for work for about four weeks before and after the birth. Then when baby is maybe four weeks old she can start to look for work again. But she gets the payment also...

Re: Clarification Regarding Irish Citizenship through Descen

Hi Greg, Is your father alive? If yes he should register in Foreign Births Register, and claim his Irish citizenship. He is definitely entitled to it, as the grandchild of a citizen. Then if you have a child that child is also the grandchild of a citizen, and is entitled to register in FBR. This may...

Re: how to sponsor family member in EU

Easiest country is Ireland, as you speak the language. Use your UK passport to get an Irish pps number for yourself, and a job is better than study, both job and study combined are actually the best idea if you can afford cost of study. If you can get a visitor visa for mum/dad/brother to visit you i...

Can your mother travel to join you, and return with you in her care? If she is a Czech citizen living in Ireland, she may still be entitled to migrant worker rights, which might make it possible for her to bring you with her to Ireland, but you would need to be together, have both passports and your...

Re: Advantages of Citizenship

Yes, if your country allows dual citizenship it is an easy choice. Take the Irish citizenship, as to have two passports is better than one. The only situations where you do not want two passports is when you are male, of age for military service and entitled to hold the passport of a country which d...

Re: irish passport to child in error

Child needs a GOOD solicitor. It appears that the child was given an Irish passport (I hope you have at least a copy of the Irish passport of the child, and if you have the original keep it safe). If the child had an Irish passport, even one issued in error, then the child is effectively being strip...

Jobs - Public Service

Do people think that the lack of immigrants in top jobs in the public service leads to the introduction of policies which make life difficult for immigrants? I am just thinking about the fact that a minister who is the son of an immigrant (Shatter) is the minister who has brought in immigration poli...

Citizenship applicants should be ok even if he resigns, because he has brought in the reform and it will be difficult for any new Minister to reverse the process, at least I hope so.

Re: Non EU Parent of Irish Born Child

If your husband can travel to Ireland then he can make an application for permission to remain on the basis of Zambrano. In general, it would have been better if he had travelled to Ireland before the birth, as the Zambrano right is stronger if the non EU parent is living in Ireland from the time of...

The simple but expensive way is for her to come to Ireland on a non-EU student visa. This will allow her to work part time, but it obviously costs money. Then she can later apply to change to spouse visa (no guarantee) or if they have a child who is an Irish citizen due to being born in Ireland she ...

Re: EEA Family Permit For Irelnd After UK Visa Refused. URGE

Your wife is entitled to a visa, that should be no problem. UK refusal will not affect application for wife. Is it possible for you to legally adopt the child and to have adoption papers issued by the court in Pakistan? That would solve the issue regarding the child on a long term basis. In this eve...

One may apply for anything, but I have never heard of anyone succeeding using this route. 'Irish association' usually means the great grandchildren or more distant decendants of an Irish citizen.

I think she would need to reside legally in Ireland for 5 years and then apply for citizenship.

I assume mum has a UK passport. She can apply for an Irish visa for her husband and they can both go to Ireland as a fast, free easy option. She needs to send her UK passport (as proof she is an EU citizen), his passport to show he is non EU and needs a visa and an original marriage cert and ask for...

Re: FBR - Document Discrepancies

On this point, Irish law does not permit discrimination against children born outside marriage. They look for the marriage cert because Irish law accepts that the child of a married woman is the child of her husband, but you can get FBR even if your parents/grandparents were not married. The marriag...
