Indian passport for baby of British father and Indian mother

I'm a recently naturalised British citizen. My wife holds an Indian passport and UK dependent visa. She is currently in India for delivery. We've decided to apply for Indian passport for the baby and then apply for RoA. After going through the forum threads, I have a good idea about the documents re...

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

They will only keep your original Renunciation of Indian Citizenship certificate which will be returned after 1 week. VFS staff will keep the attested photo-copies of your british passport, Indian passport and Naturalisation certificate They will have a look at the originals of these documents and ...

Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

I'm about to apply for OCI. I'll be travelling to India in a week's time (using eVisa). When applying for OCI at VFS office, will they return the British passport immediately? I do not need the Naturalisation certificate for travelling, so I'm okay if they return after a few days. But I do not want ...

Re: Online application - IHS number - multiple dependents

Thanks CR001. I checked with the technical support team and received the following reply: If you have paid the IHS fees for your dependants separately you will only be able to enter one reference number if they are applying together. You may wish to provide a covering letter explaining this together...

Online application - IHS number - multiple dependents

I'm applying online to extend my wife's visa as a Tier-1 (General) dependent and my daughter as a dependent child. After entering all the details of my wife and daughter, there is a section to enter the IHS number. In this section, there is no option to enter more than one IHS number. Does anyone kn...

Re: Child born abroad - Father UK citizen

Thanks for the reply folks. So, it appears that the child has to be born in UK if we want the child to be a British citizen otherwise than by descent.
I was hoping that the child can enter UK with a temporary VISA and later apply for citizenship along with her mom.

Child born abroad - Father UK citizen

I'm a UK citizen and my wife holds ILR.
If our baby is born outside UK, I understand that the baby can apply for UK citizen by descent.

However, I would like my child to apply under "otherwise than by descent" category.
Can someone please let me know the procedure for this?

Re: Home office - contact email address

It is the same question that has been discussed multiple times here - I just thought I would get an email confirmation from home office so that I can use it as proof of reference. I have just been granted ILR recently. My wife and daughter are both in Tier-1 General dependent visa. I wanted a confir...

Re: Contractor - Tax return for current year

Wanderer, thanks for the reply. Yes, I agree that it is mandatory to file the self assessment. The deadline for filing the self assessment is Jan 31, 2017. So, I'm confused whether we should file it before while applying for ILR. Any experiences of those who were in similar situation is highly appre...

Contractor - Tax return for current year

I'm planning to apply for ILR this month. I've been working as a contractor for the past 1 year (since April-2015). For the year Apr-2015 to March-2016, I have the payslips, dividend vouchers and company accounts statement. Is it mandatory to file the self assessment tax return for the last year whe...

That's unfortunate. That means she has to apply twice even though she just needs two years extension.

Tier 1 Dependent extension

I have a tier-1 visa that expires in Nov, 2017. I become eligible for ILR in Jun, 2016. My wife is a tier-1 dependent and her visa expires in Feb, 2016. She first came to the UK in Apr,2013 so she will have to stay until Apr, 2018 to apply for ILR. If we apply for my wife's extension now, till what ...

My wife holds a Tier-1 dependent visa that expires on Feb-28, 2016. She is currently in India and is planning to travel to UK on Feb-24. We are planning to apply for her extension on Feb-25. My question is, will there be any issues at the airport in India when they notice that the visa is going to e...

Re: Tier 1 (General) extension application processing timeli

Friends, I'm a bit worried as it has been more than 2 weeks since I enrolled my bio-metric details in the post office. I have not received any letter/acknowledgement yet. Going though the above posts, it appears that I should have received an acknowledgement in about 3 days. Is anyone on the same bo...

Re: Unpaid leaves

Hi, You don't need to worry about your unpaid leaves. I had 47 days unpaid leave and had successful ILR application. I don't think you even need any letter for the absences from your employer, but just for your self satisfaction if possible take a letter for paid leaves. Hi rame021, I have the same...

Tier 1 Dependent - citiizenship

I have a Tier 1 general visa and if everything goes as expected, I will get my ILR in 2016 and my citizenship in 2017. I got married recently and my wife has come to the UK in Aug 2014 as a Tier 1 dependent. Does my wife have to wait for 5 years to get the ILR and then 1 more year to get the citizen...
