Re: SET (Protection) Route applications

Guys, I need some advice. A mate of mine applied for ILR after 5 years of having refugee status on the 15th of October last year. He received a letter from HO with his BRP on the 4th of January with refugee settlement on it / indefinite leave to remain on it. The letter said he should have received...

If a person fell foul of the 10 years good character because they were refugee running from their home country, then the Good character of illegal entry is not applicable to them. "To meet the residence requirements, you should not have been in breach of immigration law during the residential quali...

Re: British Citizenship – ILR Refugeee route

Thanks guys for the swift response. His story with the HO in his asylum case is that he moved to the UK in fear of persecution based on sexuality. He didn't claim asylum on entry because he didn't know he qualified for asylum. This was accepted by the HO and was granted asylum when he applied years ...

British Citizenship – ILR Refugeee route

Hi Guys, I'm seeking advice on behalf of a friend who currently has ILR (Refugee) and due to be eligible for naturalisation in February 2019. The concern goes thus: According to his records with HO, he entered the UK in 2002 (but they have no record of him entering because he entered as a clandestin...

CTD holder travelling to France.

Hi Guys, I apologize if this is on the wrong forum. I would like to know if a refugee in the UK, who has been granted a 5 year residency and has a Convention Travel Document (Blue) requires a visa to travel to France. The holder has consulted the French consular office in the UK but all they did was...

Re: Is ILR Set (M) an option?

Probably start all over again. Thanks Vinny for your quick response. I also suspected that he'll have to start all over again, be my mate pointed out that part of the requirements of a Set(M) application is that, the applicant has to have been in a relationship akin to marriage with his partner and...

Re: Does UK Refugee need visa to visit Ireland?

Hi, If you have been granted Refugee Status, you will need to apply for a Convention Travel Document (CTD) to be able to travel outside the UK. On the back page of that document, it tells you which countries you can travel to visa-free for a visit no longer than 3 months. I think Eire is one of them...

Piri, Yes you can, I went to New York 2 years ago using my CTD. I had to apply for a visa whihh was about £100 and ho to the embassy in London. As far as I remember (maybe because I had been on several trips to New York before) they treat you with a certain amount of respect, although because of th...

Hi Alicia,

I've sent your email to him. He'll probably send you an email. I hope it all goes well for you. Casa is right, a lot of spammers might target your email address now, because they use bugs that crawl through these forums for email addresses.

Hi Alicia, I'm sure he'll be willing to help, but as Casa said "Members can only send and receive PMs after they have made 30 posts." - I did send a PM to you, so not sure you'll be able to receive it. Perhaps, you can give me an email address he can email you on, so you can send him your number and...

Re: Sexual Identity Asylum Claim

Hi Alicia, My mate might be willing to help, but he's not keen on sharing his phone number etc online. He said you might find it difficult to convince HO that you need humanitarian protection if you're not being threatened. Their argument will be that, you can live safely in Nigeria if you keep a lo...
