Just an update, I was granted ILR yesterday. I didn't mention the long absence in section 7.11 and no question was asked throughout the application process.

Thanks. I PMed ILR_HP and he advised if I am able to split your absence to less than 180 days in a particular year then there is no need for it to be mentioned. The period is counted backwards from the day of application. Considering that, I wasn't away for more than 180 days in a year.
