Thanks again, looks like staying back for delivery is the best option. Yet the thought of having to do everything by yourself is daunting when we have a brigade back home to take care. I can't help with any of your questions - but I can tell you that while having a baby in a country with no family ...

Wow, thats very long So: For Settlement Spouse Visa on the 2 Year route it takes 1. Around 3 months for a decision 2. Your immigration status stays the same whilst the application is being decided (Even if that coincides with your Visa expiry) So you stay in the UK and not classed as an over stayer...

Provided you apply before the Visa actually expires, your immigration status stays as is until a decision is reached.

My Set(M) application took 11 days short of 4 months.

Re: Name not on Bills or Council Tax - Married / Spouse Visa

Hello, I got married in my home country in Feb 2012 and came here in the UK in May 2012. I am still here and my visa expires next year July 2014. I have been doing research and seeing what the process is like for the ILR. I know they need joint accounts documents and so on. But my Husband refuses t...

Can some one who received their visas clarify if the documents are delivered by regular post (as they used to do) or is it a signed for delivery? I live on 5th floor and this info saves me from checking my postbox every 2 hours on my days off work....this is getting desperate and ridiculous day by ...

Re: Settlement Checking Service

Has anybody used SCS at some local councils? Does this speed up the application at all? At £100 is it worth it any thoughts.. I didn't think it was worth it. If you're good at forms and are able to go over your application with a fine-tooth comb on your own, you don't need the SCS. As far as I am a...

Re: More questions please

I'm fairly certain that the "shared responsibility" bit would be if you have a car loan, mortgage or something of the sort in both your names. The children bit in Section 3 gave me such a headache that I called the UKBA over it! I was told that if your kids are British and are not part of the appli...

Heyyy thank you for the update..When did you apply in November? Towards the beginning or the end? I had a very straightforward Set(M) application (Canadian, no record, married for 7+ years, kids, etc) and it took just under 4 months. I'm not 100% sure about the BRP she took though I have read in others posts on here that people's BRP's are taken at their PEO appointments because the UKBA shreds them so that could be why she took the card. Maybe the UKBA doesn't want anyone in possession of 2 BRP cards? You have to show photo ID ...

I recommend the Life in the UK smart phone app. It was £3.99 and about half the questions on my test were the same (word for word) as the app. You can do mini tests on each topic, and then an over timed exam with 24 randomly chosen questions. Still need the book though. I disagree completely my wif...

If the UKBA does an initial sift, which I think they do based on one of those Freedom of Information q's, what are the chances that personal aspects of our lives lead us to be categorised differently? What I mean, is someone from a Commonwealth country likely to be processed faster than someone not?...

Has she received anything from the NHS? With my set(m) application I submitted 2 letters from the NHS - 1 from 2010 when I first joined a surgery, and the other from this past fall from a surgeon to my GP "happy to confirm" that I had had an appendectomy. Letters like that are accepted. I don't know...
