Re: Is this a legitimate path for staying in UK?

Thanks for both replies. After learning the title of the route (DV), I've searched and found the route exists. The anecdotal stories I've heard have definately abused the system as I'm aware of the actual situations and I'm sure there's many more out there doing the same. Having said that, I underst...

Is this a legitimate path for staying in UK?

So, I'm posting this question as I've heard this story on more than one occasion and it seems improbable to me. Over the past 2 years or so, I've heard at least 3 distant relatives of mine and aquaintances tell me of the following scenario. When I heard it the first time, I didn't pay much notice as...

Re: Strange situation please advise

There has been no major change other than that SUPPORTING documents have to be sent to Sheffield. The applicant still has to submit at VFS, enroll biometrics and submit passport. No change there. An application for ENTRY clearance cannot be made within the UK. It has to be made in home country of a...

Strange situation please advise

Just a quick question. Applied for various visas in the past for family members but haven't had the need to be involved for a few years so just checking that something hasn't changed whilst I've been away! The situation is this: a female friend of mine (Pakistani) got married to a British guy in Pak...

The time I quoted includes the interview. Although HMPO state 6 weeks, in practice it takes less than that. You can book a ticket using the Pakistani passport and change the number in the booking later (or just leave it like that. You can always show the Pakistani passport in check in and the Briti...

September is a month away. She should be able to get a British passport in 4 weeks (even in the busy summer months). I understood it may take longer as she needs an interview? I need the passport number to book the ticket and the longer I leave it, the more the fare rises! I wonder why you would ne...

Travelling before getting British Passport

Hi, just a quick question which I think I know the answer to. My sister has just been successful in her application for British Citizenship and has attended her ceremony and has her certificate. The next obvious step would be to apply for her British passport, however: We are planning on going to Pa...

I can understand it being used against PROVEN terrorists, but it is a bit scary that it seems to be pretty easy for the Home Office to do this without allowing the subject any method of defending his/her case. What is even more worrying is the Home Office only need to deem the person(s) if the Home ...

Thanks for the replies. As a few of you have stated, I am guessing it could be possible that the citizenship could have been withdrawn if the subject also had a Pakistani passport. What puzzles me though is that apparently the crimes that were committed were "low level" drugs offences, something I w...

Can a British Citizen be deported?

Wonder if someone can settle this. I'm having a debate with a friend who says he knows of at least 3 cases where people have been deported back to Pakistan after being involved in drugs. He is adamant that these people had British passports, although they were originally from Pakistan and came to th...

You paid money to checking service, ask them. Hmmm thanks for your sarcastic comment, but I already asked the advisor if she was sure and she assured me it was ok. I just guess I wanted some further reassurance from someone else, but unfortunately you seem to think wit is the order of the day. Hope...

No need to send passport??? Ilr(m) is this right????

Hi all, went to submit an ilr (m) application for my wife today using the settlement checking service. The advisor took copies of all our documents and told us all was fine, but she told us we do not have to send my wife's passport with the application as she has a biometric card, obtained when she ...

Well lets hope they first look at how many appeals are made each year in this catergory and how many are upheld/overturned. In my experience, the UKBA have a tendency to talk to up their decisions and make stupid mistakes, which are then overturned on appeal. Maybe if they got the decision right in ...

Don't see the problem. Just tell your father in law not to submit the application. If he has already submitted it, then I still don't see the problem. Just tell him not to come anymore because of your change. Just because a visa is issued doesn't mean the applicant has to use it.
