From my own personal experience: I have overstayed by 3 days and my ILR application was rejected, as i broke the continence rules! I would advice either going to Belfast or apply postal (what is so important to have documents in Dec?) or risk being told that the 5 years you spent in the UK doesn't c...

Amber, to answer your question. I have applied for a new visa a approximately 3 months after I have left the UK on expired leave Back in 2004, if you applied outside the country the previous stay didn't count towards residency (at least this is what I believed was true at the time, I might have misi...

I have a valid work visa, so thankfully I am not leaving. For this reason I cannot appeal. In the long 6 pages letter UKBA also stated that I didn't show that I have any ties in the UK (so none of my reference letters from friends/teachers/employers and my partner mattered - this was a big surprise ...

Well, this is the 3rd refusal this week. I received the reply yesterday and got refused. I really didn't expect this at all. Reason is I had a break in my continuous stay between the 31/03/2009 and 12/05/2013. They did not apply 3C at all where I clearly had an appeal valid until the 24/04/2013 (re...

Just wanted to comment quickly. I personally know two people who have been over limit (one was 1200 days outside UK) who have got ILR. One of them also had a break in continuance. The advice from the solicitor was that I can apply as I do have reasons for absences and the overstay however it is a ve...

1. 66 days over the limit, had to leave outside term times as couldn't stay in college or university accommodation -due to their policy (had letters from college and university confirming this) 2. had an exam 2 days after leave expired, only noticed it during the exam period so didn't have time to e...

FYI My application was refused. Reasons for refusal: 1. Broken leave because spent in total more than 18 months (540 days) absent from the UK. 2. Left UK at one point after my leave was expired and came back after more than 28 days. Therefore the continuous residence was broken at that point and any...

Re: Long Residence by UKBA

UKBA wrote that all the applications made using Set(O) form is taking longer as there are 18 sub categories for this form. People who applied using SET(LR0 are likely to receive decisions quickly. Where did you see this? I wouldn't revoke your application, might as well wait until you receive your ...

Just called HO, apparently "the decision has been made" about my application. But due to technical reasons they can't dispatch the documents yet.

I am excited, but also nervous now.

Re: Long absences in ilr 10 years application

Dear All, I would like to have some guidance on my application for 10 years ILR that I will be eligible at the end of August 2013. I have carried out my calculations for the number of days I have been absent from the UK and it crosses the 540 days. I have exceeded both 180 days in 12 months and 90 ...

To inquire about the progress of the application, you can call 0870 606 7766 You need option 3. (I usually spend on hold around 20 min) State your ukba reference number full name nationality date of birth Be polite. Unfortunately, call center in croydon can only see what has been put on the file, i....

19 min on hold to hear a lifeless female voice "currently we are processing November applications. No, I was not given information when that department dealing with SET (0) applications will start on December ones".

There have been a lot of sham marriages, and UKBA is just trying to be vigilant. I don't find anything weird with those questions. I have been asked couple of times to translate questions from officers to the travelers, because they don't speak English and get stressed out. And they are standard bor...

Glyde,

I had the same answer last week and it flipped to "not completed" this week. Think it is just their standard answer. I might be wrong! 8)

I have faxed UKBA my tickets telling them that I am going to loose my flights if I don't get my docs in time. Don't think this will help though. sigh

No reference letters needed for ILR . BUT I was advised to supply them by my solicitors, as well as writing a personal statement myself. I don't know how much of a help such reference letters are, but I suppose at least it shows that people like you here in the UK and you have sufficient ties in th...
