Re: OCI application for minor, wife's UK visa about to expire

The birth certificate issued by the council (the full birth ertificate, which has both parents name and details) is good enough for OCI. No need for apostled documents.

Re: OCI application for minor, wife's UK visa about to expire

1. I have ILR while my wife is about to renew her tier-2 dependent visa (she does not qualify for ILR yet). So when I make the OCI application for my son, my wife's UK visa shows as expiring on 28-Oct. Will that cause a problem? (I am unable to wait until my wife's visa is renewed since we need the...

Re: can I apply for Indian evisa without surrendering an Indian passport

You got a grace period of 90 days from the date of obtaining foriegn citizenship (note: not the date you got passport) before you must stop using the Indian passport. If you exceed this grace period and still use it you may have to pay penalty. So, if you are within this limit, you may use Indian pa...

Re: OCI Card Online Status Query

I wrote an Email to HCI London (inf.london@mea.gov.in).

They replied me (within hour! impressed!) saying that the OCI is ready and asked me to provide the EMail as a conformation and follow VFS collection procedure.
Fingers crossed, whether VFS will give me a tough time with an Email printout.

Re: OCI Card Online Status Query

I applied for OCI re-issue on 16th-Sep-2019 (just this week). The status on 18th-Sep-2019 was "Processed" (OCI Miscellaneous application are processed in a week as per the timeline posted by other members). But, when I checked again on 19th-Sep-2019, the status turned "Under Process" :?: To my surpr...

OCI does not confer citizenship. So the answer to your question is No. You are not currently a citizen of India.

VFS SMS service rip-off

Please be aware of the sneaky practice of VFS adding £1.44  for SMS service, without even asking people that whether they need it or not (They call it OPTIONAL  service). There is no point in having a SMS update for passport surrender as there is no in-person collection for the processed ...

After you submit the documents to VFS, it will usually take 1 - 2 days, before you can start tracing your OCI application.
Until then, you will see "No such record found" message.
Don't panic.

Thats probably the cleanest way to deal, though not the least expensive. The least-expensive would have been postponing your ceremony until you complete the trip, thus retain the Indian passport + BRP whilst travelling. Would have saved you few £'s in applying for Indian e-Visa. Neverthless, what yo...

Re: eTourist Visa for India Q- Have you visited india before

IMHO you cannot carry Indian passport alongside a foreign passport. You have to surrender it straightaway as soon as you receive your British passport. There is a so called "Grace period" for using Indian passport for 3 months even after aquiring foreign citizenship, but I don't think you can avail ...
