Re: ILR returning resident (under 2 years)

Thanks for the advice. So regarding what you said: [i]"For citizenship, you will have to meet the relevant absence requirements so when you will qualify, depends on when you apply and what your absence is in total at that point (450 days in last 5 years and 90 days in last 12 months immediately prio...

ILR returning resident (under 2 years)

Hi, I have an ILR starting from March 2013 (originally ancestry visa). I "didn't get around to" applying for citizenship, then in late November 2015 had to leave the UK to come back to New Zealand when my sister was diagnosed with terminal cancer. I had reluctantly presumed that life had changed for...

Leaving the UK for an extended time on ILR

Hello all, I've had sudden sad news that my sister is dying of cancer. So I need to leave the UK quickly and get back to New Zealand, I may be away up to 9 months. I'm on an ILR and I know they don't like it when you're away for a long time on that, but thought it couldn't hurt to inform someone ahe...

Do I need a degree to get citizenship?

Hello, I'm a New Zealand national with ILR from ancestry since March 2013. Looking through the guide documents about applying for citizenship, it seems to read that I need to attach evidence of a degree – but I don't have one. I have diplomas in advertising and filmmaking, 12 years experience in adv...

If you use NCS do they give you your passport back same day?

Hi, I have no idea for the best board to post this in so I'll try a new topic. I'm an NZ national with ILR from ancestry, since March 2013. I'm looking to apply for citizenship now BUT am going travelling for 5 weeks from 23 August, so I'm nervous about the timeline (leaves only 3 months). However i...

Re: ILR success 26 March 2013, PEO Birmingham

I've gotten some good tips from this forum so thought I'd share my experience from today. Congratulations. Please give directions to the PEO from Solihull Station. As few people had difficulty in finding the PEO and were late for their appointments. Good point! I got lost too but just thought it wa...

ILR success 26 March 2013, PEO Birmingham

I've gotten some good tips from this forum so thought I'd share my experience from today. I'm a New Zealander at the end of his 5-year UK ancestry visa. I live in London but heard bad things about Croydon, so I made an appointment for PEO Birmingham back in early February. But I made a mistake and p...

I would suggest keep looking for alternate appointment creating a new id. At the same time if your day approaches go for the PEO appointment and just say this is what happened and I was told by call centre to come and that you would consider. I am sure they will allow you. Thanks! Great idea...I di...

PEO Appointment for ILR – but wrong form

Hello, I'm a New Zealander on an ancestry visa which expires 17 April. I went online back in February and booked a PEO Appointment in Birmingham for 26 March BUT selected FLR(O) by mistake not SET(O) – doing important things late at night isn't always wise! Then recently a friend with ILR already po...

Changing an appointment type

I'm a New Zealander on the verge of applying for ILR from my ancestry visa. Back in Feb I booked a PEO appointment online for March 26, but recently a friend who has their ILR said I was using the wrong form – FLR(O) instead of SET(O). Looking online at my appointment it is tagged with FLR(O)...bugg...

"Social and Cultural ties to your native country"

Hi all, I'm a New Zealander soon to apply for ILR in person. On form SET(O) there is question 7.12: "Please state what ties you have with the country where you were born" and in the answer box there is the heading "Social cultural or family ties". It seems to me somewhat like a booby-trap question.....
