I am presuming its single absence of > 6 months (i.e. one trip of more than 6 months out of UK)

I dont understand the logic though :-(

As per new rules, one should not spend > 180 days in every year of last 5 years..then why this question!?

Anyway, the above is my interpretation..

I am writing down all trips, even if zero days (i.e. left uk on sat am and returned sun night). The form requires it.

Also, I had same question as you..re 6 months (7.11)- I think I am going to write down any single absence of > 180 days (which is NONE for me).

OK, I am in exact same situation as you. I travel on business and my regular salary in UK continues. All i can suggest is if possible get letters from your employers certifying that all those trips were for business only and that you got paid in UK.

Would you be able to get a letter from your employer explaining why you needed to be in India for 217 days; exact nature of your work trip, etc. Were you paid in GBP or INR during that period?
It would be a good idea to get a HMRC summary of tax/NI paid over last 5 years.

Well, if you have been unemployed when out of UK there is not much you can do. Just say that and explain in your letter.

In my case I was employed through out but have changed jobs and ex-employers dont have past data.

My days out of UK on holidays (paid annual leave) are around 130, which over 5 years is 26 days per yr on an average o...
