Thanks, Paul. I guess, what I wanted to ask was in which Embassy they need to apply? Because they will need an invitation (from me) to visit me to present in the Dutch Consulate, can I invite them to Netherlands? To which Consulate should I write the invite to, to the Dutch Consulate in their home ...

Sorry, forgot to mention that they are, obviously, not EU or British citizens.

Inviting relatives to a EU country

Hi there.

I am a British citizen and currently I am working in Netherlands.
I would like to invite my relatives to visit me here.

Could anybody tell me how to get about getting them visas? I have heard that I will need to apply in the British Consulate in Netherlands for that.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks very much for this, lemeless.

We will try these routes. I have already applied for naturalisation myself, but so far no luck...

Working outside the UK when being on ILR

Hello everyone. My wife and I have ILR in the UK. She has a prospective job offer in Amsterdam. Does anyone know if she is allowed to work outside the UK (on the continent) being on ILR and a passport of non-EU country? She has a Schengen visa from travelling to Italy for Xmas (about 4 months left ...

Hi, John.

Yes, I fully appreciate the fact that I have not been waiting long (in the past as I waited for ILR for over 1,5 years). I was just hoping to obtain a confirmation that the fact I was debited the fee may mean the decision was made.

Many Thanks

Naturalisation / Waiting times?

I applied for naturalisation just before 1st Nov 05. The application and supporting documents were delivered and signed for on 28th Oct 05. After 2 months of waiting for acknowledgement of receipt of the application I started to call the HO in Liverpool. The phone number there was constantly engaged ...

Thanks, John.

I downloaded the form from HO website only, the guide was not there.
Now it's clear.

Would you happen to know whether certified copies of passports/ driving licences/letters from the HO
can be sent instead of the originals?

Regards

I am going to apply for Naturalisation using a form AN. I have read through it a few times and could not find documents requirements. Section 7.5 says that I enclose the required docs... Does anyone know what docs should be sent with it? I have not got a passport, but only a letter granting ILR ...

Hi, John. She will be applying from Russia. I am not sure I understood your second question. What I meant was that there are so many situations of this kind (possibly) and applicants do not have chance (or do not take a chance) to explain that they have commitments. My wife, for instance, is ...

I went to see a solicitor today and she told me that my wife will probably get a refusal of ILR and will have to go back to the country of origin and apply from there for a 2 year probationary visa of a wife of a person with settled in the UK (ILR based as a criteria or british citizen). The ...

I will have to see how the things will develop in the next week or two. I have been promised a telephone call from the Home Office after all.

Hi, John. What I meant was that she was continuosly on student visas even at the time when I included her in my application. It was 3 months till expiry of her latest visa at that time. Only when I arrived to the Home Office I learnt that it is possible to make an appointment before hand. They don't ...

Hi, John. After I escalated the delay to the MP, who wrote then to the HO, I received a letter stating that my case is under active consideration. Three weeks later I received a letter informing that I was granted ILR and that the documents would be forwarded to me as a matter of urgency. Three ...

Hi, John. My troubles are not over, unfortunately. After 3 weeks of waiting for the documents (I received addressed to me only a confirmation of receipt of ILR and promise the docs will be returned asap). So I went to the Home Office this morning to collect them myself. After waiting for 4 hours I ...

John,

Many thanks for an awfully speedy reply!

You cleared for me the issue of 15 months condition, I was not quite sure how it was applied. This is better then I thought.

Your comments are of a great help to me.

Are you an immigration lawyer by any chance?

Kind Regards,
Eugene

I got my ILR this morning. I have been waiting for it from 1st July 2004. What an experience that was... I sent letters to the Home Office, complained to the Complaints Unit about the delay, wrote to my local MP and he contacted the HO 2 times on my behalf. If I had not done all this, perhaps, I ...

I am very much doubtful about the aforementioned families being eligible to apply for naturalisation after one month after being granted ILR. To apply for the naturalisation the last 12 months of the stay should not be a subject to any time limit. The applicants' for ILR residentship in the UK is ...

ILR after ELR (a familiar topic)?

Hello everybody. This topic has been discussed a few times, but I wanted to get the latest. I applied for ILR after expiration of 4 years of ELR. Since then it has been 4,5 months, but so far there is no reply. An indicative time for consideration is 13 weeks. I tried to call the HO, but "the ...
