also the lawyer mentioned that because I haven't been in the UK for a continuous period of 6 years the 12 month cool off would not apply in my case.

Thank you for your reply guys. I spoke to a lawyer. Had a conference with the lawyer my manager and HR. He more or less said what you both (frontier mole and iworker) expressed.
