In answering Q1. You cannot hold more than one valid schengen visa at the same time. One would need to be cancelled in order for you to apply for another one.

Q2. Highly unlikely you will get it back if you apply, on the JVAC in London website it says it takes a minimum of 5 working days to process.

I did not put a tick in that section and I did not submit any letters when I did mine last month successfully and no letter was asked for. Best to carry one written by yourself just in case you are asked. Lots of other post here where they did the same and was successful.

Schengen Tourist Visa for Spain

I am thinking of Applying for a Tourist short stay Visa to Visit Spain from the Spanish Embassy. I currently live in London, do I need to go through VFS or I can call the Spanish embassy in London directly and book an Appointment?
