Re: Residence Cards not valid after UK leaves EU

Yes, I'm very annoyed about this. After navigating the 85 page form and being without my passport for 4 months and paying my fee, it stated nowhere that it would be invalid after Brexit. How is this even legal? It's called permanent residence. There's no limit on ILR for non EU citizens, how is this...

Re: Application for PR or PR card: form EEA (PR) - UpToDate

Hi all, I have received my confirmation email today. It has been surprisingly early (16 days after payment). Now waiting for the long one... My timeline so far Application sent: 24/08/2016 Application received: 25/08/2016 Payment taken: 30/08/2016 Confirmation e-mail: 15/09/2016 ID requested: N/A D...

Re: Application for PR or PR card: form EEA (PR) - UpToDate

Hi noajthan, I've had the Polish passport since October 2013 but was born a Polish citizen (by descent). Was a long bureaucratic process to get the passport. So that's why I'm a strange case. Technically I've always been an EU citizen regardless of when I got a passport. I have a Polish birth certif...

@noajthan proof of identity was passport. Does that show how long you've been Union citizen for? Sorry if stupid question!

Re: Application for PR or PR card: form EEA (PR) - UpToDate

Thanks noajthan. I think he can only sponsor me if he's settled, which would have been August 2014, so that doesn't help. He was on tier 1 work visa until he applied for ILR. So strange that the person I spoke to at the home office assured me I could apply using EEA PR even after I queried that I'd ...

Re: Application for PR or PR card: form EEA (PR) - UpToDate

Hi all, I'm a bit of a strange case. Been in the UK working for 7 years since Aug 2009. Entered on tier 1 highly skilled migrant (dependant) visa but am a Polish citizen by descent. Applied for and received Polish passport in Oct 2013 and then didn't apply for ILR in 2014 to save money. However, wit...

Re: Travelling After Citizenship Ceremony

FYI if anyone is wanting some up up-to-date, useful info based on real life experience: Almost cancelled our trip we had planned months in advance when I heard BRP had to be returned and was invalid following naturalisation ceremony. Have been a naturalised BC for almost a month now. Came back into ...

Re: Travelling on Naturalisation Certificate

Thanks JohnnyZee! I realise I'm taking a risk doing this, but I see no other way except cancelling the trip which has been booked and planned months in advance. Didn't think the citizenship process would be so quick and totally my fault for not knowing naturalisation invalidates ILR, but I'm hoping ...

Re: Travelling on Naturalisation Certificate

Does the information stored on the brp card change after naturalisation? Just seems crazy to think if I'd waited to naturalise until after I'd travelled, I wouldn't be in this position of stressing about using foreign passport and BRP. I'd like to hear from people who've naturalised and used BRP to ...

Re: Travelling on Naturalisation Certificate

This thread is exactly what I'm looking for! Booked travel over 6 months ago and I have recently been naturalised. I thought it had to be done in 21 days once you receive the approval letter, I guess I read it wrong. It didn't say I had 90days to organise ceremony. So I paid privately for one becaus...

Thank you for responding - very helpful! To clarify, is it no more than 180 days' absence over the five years or in one year? Lastly, can I write the letter of must it come from employer?

Thanks in advance!

Tier 1 (General) ILR queries - confused

Hi there, Two things we would like some clarity on please. My husband is the main applicant and I am the dependent and we will be applying for ILR next year so just planning ahead for then (as one has to do!) We are both teachers and have been absent from the UK during school holidays to go on holid...
