Re: Working in Ireland with UK RC

You definitely need to put through an application in Ireland for authorisation to work in the Republic, a UK residence card won't suffice. It's black and white in this respect - a UK RC allows you to live and work in the UK/NI, and an Irish RC allows you to live and work in the Republic of Ireland. ...

Re: GNIB REGISTRATION OR EU4FAM What goes first

As a non-EEA spouse of an Irish national who has exercised their treaty rights in another member state, the UK, and you have now moved to Ireland using the RC issued to you under the European Directive as the equivalent to an entry visa, you can now apply to remain in Ireland under the Directive by ...

Hi Elizabeth and Mystica I have received a reply for my email from EU Section. They confirmed that they received my application on the 27th Feb, the same day when I sent it. The timeframe given is 6-8 weeks due to the volume of applications. Im glad that they confirmed my application, I just have t...

Re: admission to uk with residence card

Thank you so much for the detailed information Elizabeth09. I didn't expect this much information in this post. I'm more than confident now about this. I would definitely take your advice to take some photocopies of marriage certificate for just in case. My wife will be coming to pick me up in airp...

Re: admission to uk with residence card

It's absolutely fine to travel on your residence card, but if you are travelling alone and your wife is not meeting you at the airport, make sure that she has access to a telephone when you are due to go through immigration, because they can stop and question you, and they may want to speak to your ...

Re: How to fnd out that they have got our EU1 application

Hi Elizabeth Thank you for the reply. I have emailed them today and lets hope that they get back to me with the confirmation. You're welcome. I've heard of some people getting responses within 4 weeks again in the last day or two, so maybe the 6-8 weeks has been reduced again. Let us know what time...

Re: How to fnd out that they have got our EU1 application

You can email them and ask them to confirm receipt of your application at: eutreatyrights@justice.ie. They send out a generic reply, but they will confirm when they received it and the current approximate processing time. The average time currently to get a written acknowledgement seems to be 6-8 we...

Re: returning irish citizen with non eu spouse

Just so this will not mislead anyone in future, and that the rules is very clearly understood, as a returning citizen, the husband of the OP does not have to engage in any economic activity in Ireland before the wife can receive stamp 4, what is required to show is all the documents that proves tha...

Re: Using the Surinder Singh to return to Ireland - advice

True, but I think that the Irish situation is must better than the UK one. Don't forget that you could also consider the Irish spouse visa. I'm not exactly sure of their requirements re: finance etc, but I'm sure it's a bit better than the UK. Since you're in the UK now though it might be good to k...

Aww, I understand! We all just want to go home. I really hope it works out for you too, sooner rather than later! One step at a time, just get started and keep going and you'll get home together. The national immigration rules within both Ireland and the UK are ridiculous when it has come to the poi...

Re: Using the Surinder Singh to return to Ireland - advice

I'm never 100% on how it works with dual-nationality in Northern Ireland - does that definitely exclude you from exercising free movement rights in both Ireland and the UK, because you are a national of both? I assume it does, but what if you have never lived in the other country? I have heard of pe...

Re: Using the Surinder Singh to return to Ireland - advice

My husband got his residence card issued by the UK under Article 10 of the Directive at the start of December, so that's solved the issue of an entry visa, also INIS have since updated their website (December 13th 2013) to state the following things: ''Holders of document called "Residence card of a...
