gsuraj: Make sure to know the proper details when you are switching to Tier2. Still did not understand money thing(£5500), remember basic funda when someone is giving you a job/Tier2visa, why do you end up keeping money from your pocket to the one who is offering a position in their company ?

Yes, this should not be done as per the rules. Am not quite sure how in UK, one with Tier2 general work visa can accept a contract job n look for sponsor again. In your case, if your sponsor does not offer any job, then only you can switch
