Re: Registering to vote in the May Elections

Can I do this before I attend my Citizenship Ceremony? Thoughts? No you are not a British Citizen till you attend ceremony. You can however, book a private ceremony for £50 odd, then you have Citizenship in time. Many people do it, and that is what I did as I wanted to move job/place ASAP after BC,...

The ceremony is booked on April 22nd, but I think that would be to late to inform the council of a change in circumstance that would allow me to vote in May. ...

Re: January 2015 - Naturalisation Application Timeline

It's good see that they are sending out emails to confirm approval. Did any of you had an email when the application was received by HO? Just trying to understand who gets emails and who doesn't. Hi zonkkk, maybe they wrote to me via e-mail because I don't live in the Uk. During the whole process I...

EEA applications started to arrive. Fingers crossed mine will come soon.

I have just seen on the January 2015 applications timeline that some of them received confirmation of approval via email. Did any of you get an email to confirm approval?

All fast approvals so far are ILR + 1 year. I guess most of the checks are done when the ILR is issued?

Guys, Why did you submit the licence? You need to submit it if you have used it as ID when taking the Life in the UK test. Never heard that before! Did you read the form before you applied? Re: Application for Citizenship as A8 National

I would check exactly what documents they had, you may find that you already have some type of document that confirms your status. For example I received a registration certificate for my daughter 6 years ago which states "no restrictions on employment in the UK". Funnily enough, she was only 2 year...

Re: Minor born in UK to a parent who had UK residence card

What does it say on your residence card? If it says: "Permanent Residence" then you can apply for a passport for the child as they are automatically British. If it says something else, like "No restrictions of employment in the UK" for example, that is not a permanent residency card, and you would h...

Re: Minor born in UK to a parent who had UK residence card

If you were a permanent resident when the child was born he is automatically a British Citizen.
You don't need to apply for British Citizenship. Go for passport directly.

If he was born before you acquired permanent residency, you would have had to apply through section 1.3.

You are a permanent resident.

However if you want to become a citizen you need to be a permanent resident for at least one year before applying.
