Thanks sankam2007. I think your applications are processed at a reasonable time though less quick than London. Anyhow you got them in your hand now. Congrats!

Info for PP Surrender or OCI applications from Scotland

In my humble and personal opinion, either for Surrendering Indian Passport or for OCI/PIO, it will be really wise idea if you send by post to London, if you want it reasonably quick. (based on the timeline for the above from Edinburgh and personal experience). Though they (London HCI) have recently ...

OCI 42 days??

Hi all,

I applied on 13th Jan 2014. It is still under process. On online status, it has been mentioned as .."or delivery within 42 days from the date of acknowledgment". Just to know whether that 42 days inclusive of weekdends or 42 business days. Any idea....?

Re: Owning property in India after becoming a British Citize

You can still have the property in India after becoming the BC.

If you have not yet Googled the benefits of Overseas Citizen of India, have a look. That will help as well....

If you have OCI, you cannot buy the agricultural land.......

Since you paid ontime and was not summoned to court then you are fine. You will have to declare it on your application if it happened in the last 12months. are you sure about that coz that will put a smile on my face, offence happened September 2012 while my application for ILR was @ the HO so that...

GuyFromTheUnknown

As MattSule said, you have to declare. Always that is the best.

Also, before apply BC, you can check your records on Disclosure as well. But you have to pay some to get the same (not sure nearly £25 I think). One of my friend did the same thing, and he got it!

I think you are just too exited and kind of thinking that BC is some kind of a royal honour bestowed upon you, and you need to tell the world about it. But unfortunately it isn't so. You will notice that nothing has changed apart from when you decide to travel, and get to most places visa free. :lo...

My personal experience is that banks, credit card companies etc have never asked for citizenship. Insurance companies do ask for length of residence in UK but not your citizenship. Perhaps the only update would be in electoral roll and that too when they send those forms once every year. Good logic...
